I've been experiencing this issue since DAI was released. Most of the cutscenes have textures rendered in a slightly lower quality (left) -- this is most noticeable with the Skyhold outfit as it has detailing on it that makes it look cloth-like -- but some specific ones, such as those with Sera or Cole, are of the higher quality (right).

Keep in mind that I don't change anything in between cutscenes. I can go talk to Dorian and have the lower quality and then talk to Cole immediately afterward and see the higher quality.

This difference is really starting to annoy me and I would like to know if there is a reason for it and if anything can be done about it.

I didn't post my specs or settings as I really don't think that should matter. I can run the game just fine on Ultra and this problem still occurs even then.

Are you using "Ultra" textures? I think I had a similar problem when using "Ultra" textures, then I changed it to "Fade touched" and it solve the issue, "Fade touched" allows a larger texture pool so more textures can be loaded at any time, providing a more detailed surface.

If you are using "Fade touched" and that still happen, then it can be related to not having enough video memory to handle all the textures at once.

Uhh... I'm using Fade touched and I can't see that much detail as is shown even on your High settings... Something's up with my game I think :o

Uggh, you are forcing me to take a look ... and yes it does as you say textures oscillate in the cut scenes.  I also noticed greater detail -still a work in progress it seems.

I did try with fade touched textures on and the issue still occurs. I don't think its a graphics memory issue either as the high quality is very specific to certain areas in the game or certain cutscenes. I recently noticed that dark/stormy Crestwood also had the sharper textures, but they went a notch lower once I made it sunny.

For a test, I went around the Skyhold tavern looking to see where exactly the texture detail popped in and it seems to be concentrated around Sera's room. Even on that same level, in the corner diagonally opposite from Sera, the texture was lower.

Another texture that I use to see if it's "working" is the Darkened Samite, which I have on Dorian's robes. This is a very detailed diamond texture pattern so it's easy to see when the texture is high or low. This is how I recently observed that it was working in the stormy Crestwood.

I never noticed this issue, but I did notice hair textures not fully rendering when I was using Ultra textures. I switched to Fade-Touched and the issue disappeared. It should be noted that Fade-Touched did bring a drop of about 10fps for me, which caused me to stop playing at 1440p. I'd rather have pretty textures at 1080p than muddy ones at 1440p.
