I get this error immediatly after attempting to connect every time. Obviously its not timing out as it is immediate, so why is it interrupted? Also why does it want my guardian's email, i'm of the age of majority so isn't it awefully presumptuous to assume i have a guardian?

This is why you don't play with DLCs. I learnt my lesson.
Wait until they fix the online-only bug.

Dragon Age can be played offline with DLCs at least. Well... I guess from what others have said... the bug hasn't been fixed yet. *sigh* And Kasumi is out too. Bah!
Oh well by the time they fix it price would probably drop anyways heh

How to fix this issue:
This issue is caused by false lines written in the hosts file.
In order to fix this, you need to delete some lines in the hosts file. Heres a step by step guide.
1. Go to Start Menu and open up Computer, once there, open up your hard drive. which currently has windows installed on it. (For most people, that will be C:)
2. If Windows was installed on the hard drive you selected, you will see a folder named Windows, open that up.
3. Now look for the System32 folder, open that up. Now look for the drivers folder and open that. Then at last, the etc folder. The directory should now be something like C:Windows/System32/drivers/etc
4. Inside you will see the hosts file. Open up Notepad which is located in accesories (right click and select Run as Administator if on Vista or Win7)
5. Go to File on Notebook and select Open, now go to the same place shown at No.3. Make sure you have Notepad set to look for all files, you can change this by clicking on the arrow next to
Text Documents (*.txt) in the bottom right corner and making that All.
6. Once in that Directory, now you can open up the hosts file with Notepad, once you have done this you now need to delete every line in that file which has the word EA in it and also starts with 127.
7. Save the file and then quit notepad and everything else that I have told you to open in this guide.
You should now be able to use Cerberus.
Happy gaming!

I found 127, but can't find the line which says EA, there's only "LocalHost".
Can you clarify further? Thanks

Hmm.. That fixed it... Let's not talk about why those lines exist.. *whistles*

Posté 07 avril 2010 - 09:52
If you see these lines:
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
Every line below this needs to be deleted. But they must contain 127. before you delete them all. Although I expect every line below that has 127. anyhow.

... you might have just become the hero for the majority of players who are sick of having to be online to play an SP game due to this bug and those who are sick of not being able to load their savegame while offline.
It seems a bit dangerous to play around, I'll have to back up everything b4 I tweak anything in the windows folder though heh. Thanks for this, might actually get the Kasumi DLC after all if this works. BTW, I vote for a sticky - you might have just saved the tech team 3 months smacking their heads against the wall as well.

Hmm, if any mod wishes for a thread with info on how to fix this just pm me then, Ill type it up and post it then you can just sticky it, untill then Ill continue answering your questions in this thread.
Also, editing the hosts file where I said shouldnt deal any damage to the pc at all, the only real way you could damage it would be if you deleted everything or even just the entire file, just deleting the lines I said should be completely safe, but you can backup if you want to be that extra bit safe.

... it didn't work for me, I may have done something wrong. Here's what I did:
1st try:
- Found 2 hosts files, one hosts, the other hosts.msn
- Found 2 lines identical in both ->
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
(No #s...)
Nothing underneath them.
- Deleted ::1 localhost
- Loaded up ME2 after wireless shutdown (using AMD fusion), same 'unable to authorise message'
2nd try - Repeated what I did but deleted both lines.
- Didn't work - same 'unable to authorise message'
3rd try - Logged onto Cerberus Network in case the game 'forgotten' that I've already authenicated.
- Saved a game on one profile with all DLCs activated.
- Exited
- Repeated both 1st and 2nd tries
- Both attempts failed at loading savegame after wireless shutdown.
=(
EDIT: Just curious though, are we talking about the same issue? Which bug did you fix - Cerberus bugs with connectivity, or the DLC play-online-only bug?

The bug that I am talking about is where a user is unable to log in to Cerberus at all or even the EA servers, this means that any old saves that used dlc's cannot be activated so you cannot load the saves and you cannot get onto it anyway.
Now, you may have to turn auto connect off for EA servers using the ingame menu, once you did that just click connect and fill in your EA account details etc and it should work for you.
If they doesnt solve your problem, try and explain fully whats happening when you try to authenticate the dlc's can you sign into Cerberus or not?
Sorry about the late reply, was playing FO3.

I see, well my main issue with Cerberus is due to the fact that when it can't connect or my ISP is down I'm left with the inability to play my game - hence I don't play with DLCs.
When I log in online with cerberus (when it works), all DLCs are seemingly authorised. When my net is down however, problem starts. I guess however, this will fix any Cerberus-related issues, even if it doesn't solve the play-online-only bug.

I have posted this in several threads, but my hosts folder is clean. Just the comments, no code. I get the same error as most people, that the servers have timed out. I use Windows 7 64 Bit and I've seen others who've had this error and who use Win7 whose hosts folders have been clean as well. Is there anywhere else that the lines you are talking about could be stored?

Okay Setho, try using these commands in command prompt(run as admin!)
netsh int tcp set global ecncapability=disabled ( use this one on its own first and try the game with only this one done, if that doesnt work, use them all. If then that works you should reset them all back to default simply by changing say =disable to =default)
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider=none
netsh interface tcp set global ecncapability=disabled

I am getting the same problem, over and over and I've tried all of the above.
Apparently thee problem, for those of us who bought the collector's edition, was that Bioware made a "slip-up", not printing our Cerberus code correctly.
There is a post from EA about the error in :
http://support.ea.co...TE0OCZwX2NjZl89
Unfortunately, they don't have a solution yet....
Now I'm kinda regretting I bought the damned version since I can't play T-T
