Hey, Bioware, please just stop with the new full-start-screen promos.

What a baffling design decision, considering the title screen's part in the narrative. MP is the debil.
It's also advertising the new DLC.

I keep forgetting about the DLC, but that's because I'm a PS peasant that must wait.

Short term surely for DLC and weekends only for MP.
Both are informative for those who do not follow BioWare blogs/Twitter, BSN or game sites.

People really will find anything they can to complain about.
No, what people really need to do is understand that not every complaint is claimed to be "the worst thing about the game", and that small complaints are valid as well.

They already had a small banner in the corner that showed a weekend event was on. I'm going to have to agree that this is silly, and they should go back to that. Especially considering what others have said, that it kills the prologue for new players who see a random behemoth picture, then something they couldn't see blows up in the background. I mean, that's jarring enough when you see the background. Bad idea.

Hmmm, I just tried to start a new game and on reflection I think you're right (for new players).
The principle of flagging new DLC and the weekly MP is worth showing.
But for a new player I agree, this is problematic.
If the advert faded to the scene for a few seconds before the (explosion) 'new' game started, that would still make sense.
Or reduce the advert size sufficiently.

It's not the end of the world. It's just marketing.
You're right. But we've explained some reasons why it's still silly. If we only complained about things that were the end of the world, there would literally be no feedback.

I agree completely. And like I said, they previously advertised events with a smaller banner. They could do the same with DLCs. Problem solved. Unfortunately, I feel like this is another example of implementing something without really thinking about it.

It's a real nice break from having endless hordes of mages and Templars marching on, and on, and on, and on.... that I've had to endure every time I open the damn game.

Go ahead and make yourselves miserable, I guess.
Make myself miserable? Definitely not! These things bug me whether I want them to or not! If anything, I'm actually making myself less miserable by posting here. That way, I can feel validated that I'm not the only one who thinks these things, I can vent, and have a small hope that Bioware will change their minds about them. And in turn, I make others feel better. So, it feels to me like you're the one being negative here, not us.

I adore the art in this game, and this is more of it. Every week a new artwork? Fine by me.
Just to clear this up:
It's like 98% image and one tiny line of info ("I'm playing the game on a hacked digital wrist watch, why can't I resize the font?") at the bottom, which is no less killing the mood than the information that I'm safely connected with whatever the Dragon Age Servers are. That's hardly an (obstructive) ad - DA2 as well as the holy DAO even had those scrolling text ads about the latest DLC in the main menu.
I do agree however, that it should remain default if you boot up the game with no saves yet; since the effect was nice.

I miss that. Would've made me feel more like I was playing Dragon Age. I wish they wouldn't change style (in the same series!) for the sake of itself. A minor thing, sure, but worth noting.
Definitely. Instead of the Bioware/EA mist we currently get, it would have been nice to see the blood dragon again, followed by the marching scene for the menu.
I certainly don't oppose change, in anything, really, provided change improves upon what we had before. The changes to the game as a whole have not been...heartening, although I very much enjoy the game overall. I guess it is just a matter of perspective.

It's kind of ironic that the game with the most dragons in it doesn't use that intro.
