Hey, Bioware, please just stop with the new full-start-screen promos.

It's kind of ironic that the game with the most dragons in it doesn't use that intro.

Good point.

Definitely. Instead of the Bioware/EA mist we currently get, it would have been nice to see the blood dragon again, followed by the marching scene for the menu.

I certainly don't oppose change, in anything, really, provided change improves upon what we had before. The changes to the game as a whole have not been...heartening, although I very much enjoy the game overall. I guess it is just a matter of perspective.

Right, I'm not against change either. But changing the logo to the mist didn't have any upsides, but has the downside of feeling different as soon as you start the game. I also agree that a lot of changes weren't the best, even if I like the game too.

The blood dragon was stupid marketing trash that had nothing to do with the games. Good on them for getting rid of it.

Both are informative for those who do not follow BioWare blogs/Twitter, BSN or game sites.

Steam manages to have a "news" section for games you own without full screen ads

Those full screen ads are not that bad.

Thing is, alot of people didn't know that there is free MP dlc. And people who have the DLC can't play with those that don't have it.

My issue with the full screen ads, is that I already purchased the DLC, so stop showing me the screen telling me to buy it. If they want to do these they need to also make them smart enough to see that I already have the product (since I am logged into Origin anyway, that's something very easy to check) and refrain form spamming me. And I was quite happy with the smaller overlay showing the MP event, there was no need to change that either.

Man, people are hostile against the weirdest stuff.

Like, friggin' Dreamworks with their sh*tty kid fishing on the moon!

It's not the end of the world. It's just marketing.

It's like they actually want people to hate the game..

Who on earth is making these design decisions.

Maybe the same guys who developed Crack Baby Basketball.

It's not advertising the multiplayer dlc though.

Thats slightly different. This is a case of the developers modifying the game to put an advert in

I really don't like the full screen ads either. The little banner on the side was annoying, but ignorable. I don't want to play the MP so please stop shoving it in my face. I know it exists. There's an option to click multiplayer on the menu. Which I've successfully ignored for months.

Now this.

And as a PS4 player, I can't just play offline without completely disconnecting from the internet. Thank God for the new update for suspend resume feature so I can skip menues entirely and jump in where I left off

But please please get rid of the full screen ads!!

I don't really like the ad either. I don't think it's as bad as in Origins with Levi Dryden at your camp pestering you to buy his DLC though.

I kind of like it, but there is no link to actually purchase the content in the menu.

Indeed. The other games had a DLC tab in the menu. I'm not sure why DA:I doesn't. If it did, they could just have a NEW icon beside it, or something.

While I'm not a fan of the new full screen promos either lots of people were complaining a few weeks back during the druffalo MP event that they didn't know the destruction expansion DLC was needed and apparently there were also a lot of people who didn't even know it existed because there was never anything in game that stated it, so I can see why they've done this. Now no one can turn around and say "well I didn't know about feature X, where were we told about this! *insert profanity and insults at bioware here*" it's all over the main menu now, if you can't see that I think it's time to go to the opticians...

Except they aren't advertising the Destruction DLC. They could easily mention it when they say an event is on, but they don't. Sure, it will help when the Dragonslayer DLC is released, but like I said before, why not have a DLC tab on the main menu that tells you when something is available?

I actually like it, but it could be because I am bored stiff with that same old marching screen. I hate that looping march.

The blood dragon was stupid marketing trash that had nothing to do with the games. Good on them for getting rid of it.

But...it was "iconic".  And that is always better...

Look - I don't get to the menu screen and think, "damn, I miss that blood dragon".  The first time the game opened I didn't even notice it wasn't there, I was just looking forward to seeing the game finally.  However, it was something that set the game(s) apart, a unifying theme or motif.  It's a bit like the EA Sports logos of the late nineties (I haven't played any EA sports games in a VERY long time, so I don't know if they still all have the same logo), where "if it's in the game, it's in the game" meant you were playing an EA Sports game.  The Blood Dragon is a very simple and - I would have thought - low cost way of achieving the same thing for dragon age games.

Full page ads covering the menu screen....that is marketing trash.

I don't have a problem with movie trailers playing prior to the film I paid to see starting, but once the film I'm there to see starts that should be all that I see.

Agreed. Just wanted to add that it's even more important to have some things carry through the Dragon Age games, because of the largely new set of characters each time. I wish they had more iconic things too. Even removing tiered currency makes it feel less "Dragon Age-y". I think Hawke was iconic, both in default appearance and Champion armour. But they failed to make the Inquisitor look iconic or recognizable. S/he just looks like every NPC out there, and has even less choice of armour than them! Not to mention I'm still not sure how to get the Inquisitor's armour from the box art and promos - the one they made into a hoodie that no one will recognize, because they failed to make it iconic. Hmm... I guess the beige pajamas are iconic, but not in a good way! I will laugh if most of the people who cosplay as the Inquisitor just get some of those to wear :D

Yeah ... if you remember to look at it. I don't usually have much reason to engage with the Steam interface at all, though I'll generally click through the marketing pop-up. I'm not sure if I'm missing much by doing this.

Yes i hate it too, its very poor, like every mage and templar are exactly the same guy till eternity, feels like the same reused assets as DA2 haha, but even then i hate ads more...
