I've always found it utterly bizarre that in a game with something like sync kills the majority of the melee specialist kits don't even have a basic dodge roll. If anything being able to nimbly get in and out of close combat should be the standard for a up close bruiser.
Admittedly they added some later kits with less of a problem there but it took way longer than it should have and was never remedied on the early ones.

^^ You are right...Only argument I could come up for this is Jet Boots....Armiger Heavy Melee..then Jet away..Pound the ground at a Banshees feet to kill her I say.

Yeaaah, I wasn't around in the pre-Earth days, so I wouldn't know... but I always thought that Tele-Dodge, Biotic-Dodge, and Acro-Dodge were better than rolling

Each dodge type has its strengths and weaknesses.
-Roll Dodge is pretty restricted and doesn't cover much ground but makes it hard for you to be hit.
-Teleport Dodge can go through walls, but the hitbox causes you to still take damage even when dodging.
-Hop Dodge is quick and can be done diagonally, which many dodges can't do.
-Cartwheel Dodge can be done in seven directions for Drell (only exception is forward, in which is a normal roll) and grants 50% DR last I remember, but it has a big hitbox and that means it's easy for enemies to hit you in the meantime. On the other hand, the diagonal dodge animation executes quickly.
-Flying Dodge (Space Turians and Collector Adept) covers a lot of ground but moves rather slowly.
-Biotic Dodge drains your barrier, but it's fast and the animation triggers quite quickly
I'm tired so I'm probably forgetting one or two, but I don't think there really is a "worse dodge." They're all useful in different ways.

Aye and the Krogans and Batarians don't have any of the above in spite of being built to get close and punch people.
It's one of the things that makes me love vorcha so much. Decent melee and dat spaz dodge.

Banshees should never have been given sync kills. At least, not with such a dumb animation. It makes no sense.
An Atlas picking me up and choking me? You know what? I buy that! It's a frigging giant mech built to carry and move things (a pilot, a payload of rockets, etc.). Banshees are lanky and get staggered by being shot in the face. How can they pick up a 1000-pound Krogan off the ground with one hand? Maybe biotics, but using the biotics to lift something so heavy should have a caveat, i.e. they take double damage, or the exertion drains their barriers or causes them to die afterwards. Or something.
It's frustrating being grabbed by a Praetorian, but the thing is downright massive, so it's at least credible. Banshee grabs are just obnoxious. I would have removed them from the game (although I would've made banshees move two or three times as fast, to compensate).

A few tidbits to add
-Generally Banshees will not teleport down ladders unless there is someone close to that ladder that can be grabbed, they will generally reroute then try to grab you.
-If you're in a tight spot, do not panic but time her jumps and sprint right past her. Mileage of course will vary according to whether you're on host or playing with someone on someone third world ISP.
-You can also set up her warp ball if it's in the air, by dodging one way then dodging back. Or if you're a kit without a dodge and have no cover use melee to give you some DR to the warp ball's initial damage. There are two aspects initial damage (A LOT) and DOT both can be reduced by melee, dodging(even if you're hit you get some DR from dodge) and hard cover.

Probably has something to do with the fact that they come from Ardat Yakshi..... Asari with the highest capacity for biotics.... Also makes sense why they fondle their enemies before killing them.... just a habit on that......
