I would think there would be away to break down weapons and armor for resources. I am not saying you would be able to get every out of them but I would be nice to get something out of them, other than just selling off all of the stuff you can’t use. It would also be nice for an option to "study" a weapon or armor for a schematic. My thought is that in "studying" a weapon or armor it get destroyed to make the schematic. So instead of selling all the useless armor and weapons you could break it for crafting materials or schematics. It would be another reason to collect that stuff, other than selling it of course.
Thoughts?

This is something I felt that should have been in the game by default. Crafting something and then finding something better shortly afterward, immediately making the crafted item obsolete, ends up being a huge waste of resources. It's one of the reasons why I often wait a long time until I'm well off to craft anything, because crafting is too resource-intensive and too much of a commitment if we can't get anything back from it.

Really good idea! In fact, in multiplayer you can't sell gear at all, you can only break it down. So it they already have the system in place to make it happen. Having the option to break it down into materials (fewer than were used to make it), break it down for a schematic, or simply selling it would be AWESOME.

I'd like to be able to break down my crafted items to recoup some of the materials, maybe even a chance to reclaim a rune or masterwork material (say, a 10% chance).

This, 100 times this. I have thought it myself too. I have played other games where you break useless things to get resources, for grafting or upgrading. I'm short of materials all the time because fulfilling requisitons take them too, then I craft something and hour after that I find something that is better. I really would like to have at least some of the mats used back.

It's reasonable to lose something as is some chance of failing and many games do this to some degree.  However, crafting in inquisitions has enough issues to warrant a repair DLC on its own.  Take a look at the laundry lists of errors, missing and incorrect items along with extended features.  Some folks have gone as far as proposing a modified menu system, crude code and all, so what's the hold up?
