So every time I try to talk to Cole since I got his stupid amulet, my xbox locks up altogether. Last save prior to his quest being in my log is over 20 hours ago because of the 25 saves hard limit. Not prepared to lose 20 hours of faffing about doing a million sidequests, upgrading gear etc. Only I can't complete Sera's quest either, since I have to talk to Cole for it.

 

I have heard about problems with the quest staying in log, due to his cutscene conversation triggers, and that getting his approval higher can help them trigger properly.

 

However, I'm not sure that's the problem for me - I can't even give him the amulet, and I've done the 'Look for Cole' a couple of times, and gotten scenes where he puts a soldier out of his misery, and comforts a lady by telling her she ca'n't help anyone. After that the next scene was his argument with Solas about binding. Am I missing one?

The Sera quest bothers me more than anything else, at least I cold ignore Cole forever if just he was broken.

 

I was hoping if I went off to do What Pride Hath Wrought, something might happen to garner a jump in his approval/disapproval that might resolve the problem, but if it doesn't, I've lost more progress.

 

Does anyone know anything I can do to try and push his approval way up or down, or any other way to resolve this? (Without MQ spoilers if poss pls)

I've got the same issue, and my brother encountered it as well. It's irritating as all hell. I've got no idea how to fix it, but I just tried a butt load of times and it eventually worked. It's a pain in the ass, but there isn't much alternative.

This was happening to me too! I just got it to work by trying over and over again. I noticed that the last time I tried, I loaded from out of skyhold (empires du lion, but I doubt it matters that specifically), then traveled to skyhold.
I've been told that with the Xbox, you have to not do anything whenever the game saves, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I'm on my 3rd game and had no problem with the first 2, but last month it started.  Right now, I'm trying once each time I play and then I restart and go somewhere else.  

 

 I've tried coming from a different direction, leaving to go fight something, came back and when I went to talk to him, froze.  I will keep trying because I like Cole but it's very very irritating.

The only problem I ever had with Cole that causes my game to freeze is when i first get to Skyhold. When I first get to Skyhold if I talk to Cole FIRST and get him to join my party THEN talk to Cullen.....THE GAME WILL FREEZE. This has been a common problem and hasn't gone away yet so I have been NEEDING to talk to Cullen FIRST THEN talk to Cole in order to get Cole into my group.

 

As far as his "quests" go I know you need to talk to him often and he will give you a WAR TABLE mission about a Rhys and a woman friend of Rhys. Even though Cole is ehhhhh about you doing it I usually do it to continue his storyline which seems like a must. After doing it (and claim it's reward) and socializing with him often and beating the Warden story (WHAT LIES IN THE ABYSS or whatever it's called) you should get the scene between him and Solas about needing a amulet to uncontrollable. I usually pick whatever social choices I go for most and get the WAR TABLE mission. I do the amulet WAR TABLE mission, claim the reward then I think I talk to Cole or Solas which prompts the scene about how it doesn't work on Cole but Verric steps in to give his insight on what it may be.

 

Frankly I don't seem to have issues with this specific mission BUT when i first get to SKYHOLD if I talk to Cole first then Cullen this causes the game to freeze for me on the Xbox 360 version.

I can't give him his freaking amulet. My game on the Xbox360 just freezes and crashes when I go give it to him. Yeah, not really nice, actually horribly annoying. I want to finish the freaking quest so I can get on with my life... Instead I feel like tossing my console out the window everytime it happens.

So im having the same trouble, so once i just kept skipping scenes till i had to speak and that has seemed to work so far till i forgot too. and now im going to do it again! And it worked!! so skipping scenes for me at least works. I hope this is helpful!
