An analysis and breakdown of the Dragon Age Inquisition final scene after the credits with Solas (Dread Wolf) and Flemeth (Mythal). This scene is one of the most shocking, and also most confusing, in the entire Dragon Age series.

Sit down, relax, and hopefully you'll learn something new!

Did you make this?

I've begun thinking that what if Solas, when he says "but the people, they need me," he might be talking about the elven Gods. The first few times I saw the scene, I thought he was talking about the elven people themselves, but now I've begun to ponder. He and Flemythal are both gods, yet also are elven race, so there is a possibility that when he says "the People", he could actually be talking about the gods, instead of the normal elves. I think the writers intentionally wrote it that way to make it sound obscure and vague. Then people would think he's talking about elves, because Solas is also an elf, and the whole game he's been talking about trying to get through to the Dalish, so few would question what he means when he says "people".

I got a strong feeling Solas is going after the Maker, which would be the reason why he "stabbed" that giant foot in the wall painting.

I thought it was a dragon. Now you call it "Footsie".

If there's one thing I'm certain about is that 'the price' is the price to use the Eluvian. Solas clearly wanted to use to orb in some manner, just like Cory did. When Cory couldn't use the orb he went after the Eluvian. So it's not pretty solid assumption that now that the orb is destroyed, Solas too is going to use an Eluvian for his work instead.

It was also partly Solas' fault that the orb got destroyed so he should be the one paying the price to use the Eluvian. But instead of him it is Flemeth who pays the price by giving up a part of her soul /dying /whatever she does, because apparently the 'people' need Solas, meaning there is something he can do that Flemeth cannot (why?). What this 'thing' is is something we will likely find out in the future games.

All that remains to be seen is whether Flemeth is truly dead and gone (something I find very very unlikely) or is she just making a fool of everyone like she did after DAO.

What if the Maker was a Dragon, a.k.a. an old god?

Actually, he was not after the Eluvian, he was after the knowledge contained in the Well of Sorrows. It was Morrigan's assumption that he was after the Eluvian, which turned out to be incorrect.

The people are the elves.

But doesn't Solas at one point say he doesn't consider the elves to be "his people"?

We know Solas went after the dalish, we know he tries to connect with Sera. He can't, because the elves are too different from what they were. Hence, he saying he doesn't see (modern) elves as his people. But it's obvious that he cares, that he feels responsible for their "downfall" and that his actions in the end, probably, are a way  for him to "restore" them in some way.

I think "his people" are the Arlathan elves, like the elves in arbor wilds. I believe they even call a Dalish Inquisitor a shem. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Solas again with more awakened Arlathan elves.

(to JadeDragon) They do. Abelas makes it very clear that he does not consider the modern elves his people and refers to an elven Inquisitor by the term "shem" which was once reserved for humans because of their short lifespan.

(to Fireheart) The People with a capital p is another name for the elves as Flemeth after her resurrection in Dragon Age 2 identifies Merill as "one of the People" and some Dalish elves refers to elves as "the People" so Solas is almost certainly referring to elves in his dialogue with Flemeth. I'm not sure he is talking about the Dalish "deities", however, as while they may be included in his plan, he would likely use a different tone and words to describe them.

Quick question. When you see him with Arlathan elves, what will you do? Will murder-knife them all.  :P

Ok, more elves that want to understand the past elves then elves in general.

You are actually correct. I did not consider that. But then it was never clarified whether he wanted to use the Eluvian or not. Morrigan theorizes that Cory wants to use the Eluvian to enter the Fade, which we know is possible seeing as how Kieran /Flemeth do it. We can also safely assume that Solas wants to get into the Fade /Golden City /Some place related. So....

Anybody have a nice screenshopt of when Solas briefly flashes before absobing the wisp?

I currenly paused at that scene (2:32) so far it looks to be pale green. with 2 merged faces? and Solas' nose is kinda poking through in the middle

Maybe someone with better editing skills than me can clean this up better
