True but after so long playing the game i know where the rift are that they will spawn them from so if i am after the loot i will go to one of the rift clear the waves take the loot and leave its area which causes it to reset and repeat. or be lazy and just the storage chest trick 

 

I don't think the trick works with crafting materials FYI.  But you are correct, you can leave and respawn the rift.  But why would you use dispel at all then since it could cause you to farm for longer periods of time (making the entire dispel-digressional-topic redundant).

keep 1-2 lower level rifts for mat farming and then just close the rest i come across keeping 2 rifts open doesn't make dispel useless plus their are still mages / bosses not to mention status effects e.g lighting dragons static fields which can all be dispelled.
