While watching Hunt for Red October on Netflix i kept thinking how similar it is to the Normandy. They're both extremely advanced prototypes(for their times) capable of stealth.
There are a few references to the movie in ME2 and 3 but has it ever been confirmed by Bioware as their source of inspiration?
Advanced prototype craft that are undetectable is not a thing unique to the HfRO novel.
They certainly referenced it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's where they got the idea from.
Yeah cross between Red October and SR-71.
