I'm a compulsive saver so I ran out of saves in my first playthrough. I think the 250 limit for PC's is because of the Origin servers instead of your own? In any case, after I ran out I created a separate folder for game files and subfolders for each character with more subfolders for different plot points/convos. This way I can copy the saves I want and after the game is over I can deleted the saves in DAI's structure before starting the next. Cumbersome, I know, but if I want to replay a section I can find it and copy back to the DAI structure.

If you're on a console can't you save your files to a flash drive and copy back to the console if you need them? The autosaves and quicksaves overwrite each other, I think, but the Milestones don't. How much of the 30 - 50 save limit is Sony or Microsoft instead of Bioware?

I finished Inquisition this morning. I have almost 400 hours on it, Nightmare with FF. I had to move the saves once. Then I think I have about 50 saves across the Temple of Mythal to the end of the game.

The reason they cut it off at 250 is because the game will take a long time to load the save files whenever you save or load a game. After I moved the files the save and load menus came up instantly. It was taking like five whole seconds before this.

I personally do this now since we can no longer name our saves and also that PC 250 limit:

I leave the save folder sorted by date opened when playing. When there's a particular point I like, quicksave -> minimize game -> zip up the quicksave (ex. [character name] - Cassandra's Guilty Pleasures Scene.rar). When I want to quickly replay this point, I extract it and replace my current quicksave with it.

I'd wager it's the console manufacturer - remember, the PS3 only has 256MB of memory which is really not a lot.

This limitation has three simple explanations:

1. cloud storage isn't cheap

2. proper programming of a save/load engine which keeps an index is beyond their ability

3. any customer flak is easily countered by their paid schill service:
