Well he said that they couldn't do it and then he immediately left the chat, I emailed the chat to myself to post it here but I can't on my iPad atm.
I just find it utterly ridiculous, if anything they should give the people who bought it first thing without complaining a full refund, I know it's only $5 but still, they slashed the price permanently, it's not like its on sale or anything. EA has definitely not changed, don't beleive the bullshit people.

I thought it was going to be automatic.

Looking at the Origin sales condition where I live they are actually obliged to help you if the provided price is incorrect. EA should: (I) Give you the right price or specification, and ask you to confirm whether you want to purchase the relevant EA content at the right price or specifications, (II) help you get full refund. However reading your story it's a bit, how we say it, unique. I assume you live in Australia? I strongly advice you to read through the whole sales condition, aswell as any EULA for Origin specifically for your country, and use that as an argument when in contact with EA's support team.

You new to customer support? ![]()
Call another one. Maybe that person had a bad day or is too lazy to handle refunds if they aren't automatic.
If that doesn't work then make a thread at the EA forums where they can actually respond to you.

Yeah, customer support has an unfortunate tendency to sometimes differentiate depending on which person you are talking to regardless of whom they are affiliated with or what their company policies are. This sounds like a case of trying again to get a different customer support representative.

But, a whole bunch of questions are raised for me. Surely they can't just provide an automatic refund? Well, I haven't saved my banking details with Origin. Can they?
Can they just provide it using the details you used when you purchased it? Maybe they can.
Also, depending on how they track transactions, this may be hard to find who bought it at the higher price? Or it may not?
Just questions raised in my mind.
This is assuming they do decide it was a mistake and actually want to give a refund. (I know they told someone so, and fair enough, maybe they do.) But, if you agreed to the sale at $25, (I did), they aren't obliged to?
I really have no idea about this stuff. But I am interested.
(PS. Having raised lots of questions, my husband just told me the extremely simple story of ticketec refunding his money paid for a rained out cricket match. No dramas at all. They may be set up for that possibility? Or, this just should be easy? like I said. I have no idea but I'm skeptical and interested.)

IIRC, the AUS$5 refund (for Aussies only) is being handled by the EA billing dept. automatically. EA Game Advisors won't be involved.
(EA should probably give them a scripted response about it though.)
There's a record in their system of the original transaction and whatever mechanism you used to make it. They'll "reverse" the appropriate amount via that same mechanism.

The rep I spoke to via chat on Saturday was very polite and said she'd refund the money. But as someone mentioned above it's being handled automatically now anyway.
