yeah I know I am new here but I've searched the map numerous times and can't find the miner in order to get the key to the door. Also where am I to get extra shards for the three doors in the cave?

The miner moves around constantly, so she will not be in just a one spot. Sometimes it takes awhile to find her. You also need to gather all the shards from other areas, as well, not just from Oasis. They all count.

The wandering miner can be VERY elusive. Try leaving the map entirely and then returning... there's a good chance she'll spawn very near the Oasis camp.

The miner very often will get out of bounds when she's patrolling the area, so the longer you stay in the Forbidden Oasis the less likely you'll be able to get to her.
If you leave the area and return, she will return to her spawn point (it's near the second camp). You should be able to find her then.

Very much this, rather than chasing after the miner, wait till she spawns next to the camp.
All the shards you find in the game are for the temple in the Forbidden Oasis (you'll need all of them if you want to fully explore the temple).
There is a new batch of shards in the JoH DLC that will open a location in the Frostback Basin. The main game shards and the DLC ones can be used interchangeably. Eventually, you need all the shards if you want to unlock both locations.

I do agree the miner is very elusive but I do usually catch her in the middle of the map near the second camp.
However she does tend to glitch though. I saw her on top of the cliffs on the far left side once near that large ladder walking back and forth acting stuck. I was like 0.o o.0. Thankfully after exiting the map and re-entering she showed up around where I can talk to her.
