I'd like to ask players who have played a fair bit and have collected a good amount of stuff.

I'm getting this fairly regularly now:

Inventory Full

Your inventory contains too many items.

Until you salvage some, you cannot craft new items or access the store.

So I've counted what's in my inventory when full and after I've done a thorough salvage.

I'm assuming the armour sets don't count (because they can't be salvaged) so I'm ignoring those.

Similarly I'm ignoring crafting materials in the belief that they don't count either.

On top of Inquisition weapons I have kept the 2 or 3 best weapons of each class, including elemental types.

No duplicate upgrade pieces, but how do I know what will be useful for future armour upgrade?

So:

My inventory level when full:

  • 72 Weapons
  • 34 Accessories
  • 79 Upgrades
  • 13 Runes
  • 191 Total

My inventory after a thorough salvaging:

  • 40 Weapons
  • 29 Accessories
  • 73 Upgrades
  • 12 Runes
  • 161 Total

So in practise, my shopping buffer is only 6 chests worth (30 items).

Are you experiencing similar shopping restriction?

Do you have a sense of what the inventory limit is?

I recall this post - http://forum.bioware...-cap/?bioware=1

Not sure if the fix mentioned in that thread ever happened, but armors may still take up inventory space.

That's helpful, thanks.

I have 153 armour sets, so no they don't take up space then.

Looks like it's a 200 item limit for Weapons/Accessories/Upgrades and Runes.

As I was within 10 items of that limit the store went, too close, go salvage!

152 armor or every currently-available armor. I believe they have not yet been fixed to not count towards the cap because I believe I was able to get more chests til full inventory before a 50-plus armor crafting binge.

38 weapons.

51 accessories.

49 upgrades.

28 runes.

318 total items

166 items if subtracting armor.

I just bought 7 large chests of disappointment before full inventory. Having over 1.2kk gold, I would have to do over 140 sets of buying/salvaging to get back to 0 gold, assuming I salvage everything that I loot which I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. And I imagine well over 250 sets if I decide to keep some of the items.

This small amount of inventory is unacceptable. I have only a few weapons of each type which I keep just for fun, or in hopes of bioware fixing the items (berserk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIOWARE WHAT THE ****). I have only one of each accessory, and yes many of them are ability rings for useless abilities, but I keep them because I hope bioware will fix the rings and abilities. I have a lot of upgrades because I want to see new armor, items, and rune-slot-able items, but nothing after 5 months of the game being released. I don't think any of my stashing of equipment is unreasonable, the only thing unreasonable is the retarded inventory cap.

BIOWARE THERE IS NO POINT TO HAVE AN INVENTORY CAP IN MULTIPLAYER WHAT ARE YOU DOING PLEASE FIX YOUR GAME OKAY BYE!

Armor sets do count against your inventory limit.  I had the same issue as Veramis, when I shot myself in the foot by going on a crafting binge and then noticing that my shopping runs got cut down to only 4-5 chests before I got the dreaded full inventory message.

Guys, there's a lot of negativity in this thread.

The inventory cap is there for two reasons:

First, it adds strategic depth to DAIMP by forcing you to make hard choices about which equipment to keep and which equipment to salvage. You need to carefully consider the consequences of equipping items on characters (especially now that while equipped, they can't be salvaged!) and make decisions regarding tradeoffs between inventory space and a team equipped with a variety of items and armor.

Second, by having inventory space limitations, I'd imagine it reduces the complexity and workload on the back end data servers for DAIMP. This improves connection stability and speed, and allows the developers to focus on adding new content and features instead of maintaining unwieldy databases!

One good addition might be a count of inventory items to warn players about approaching the cap, but only if it wouldn't disrupt or stress their work on other planned DAIMP improvements!

I agree. I'm much in the same boat with around the same inventory space issues.

1/2 of my time in this game is spent mindlessly salvaging the vast majority of the gear I'm awarded that I don't need, to create space for that low % chance I'll see an item I do need. I have to do this every time I buy 6 large chests, using 7200g. I often wait till I have time to kill when I'm not grouped with anyone, and when I have accumulated 50k gold or more.

I timed it tonight, the time it takes to buy 6 large chests, scroll through all 10 items (5 items/potions) to see if anything was of worth, click past the "inventory full" message, go to my inventory, and salvage everything I got (2 button clicks for each item, around 30 items) and get back to the store to do it all over again. 3 min 20 sec, which is about as fast as I can do that to safely scroll past the gear I don't want to destroy vs the gear I do.

At the end of a day of DAMP, to spend my earnings of 50k gold or more, I have to waste 20-25 minutes just to do housekeeping. What the what?

Please give us a better solution to this task. Here's some ways to improve the quality of the salvage process, or make the process more efficient:

A. Get rid of inventory space maximum altogether, or at the very least triple what it is now.

B. Put all new gear into a window by itself, (instead of with the rest of the inventory, with asterisks) and give us a "salvage all" button.

C. Option to transfer gear with 1 button to a trash, then salvage all with 1 button.

D. Give us a "salvage all common and below" button.

Yeah I'm in the same boat now.  Salvaging has become so tedious that I have just given up and am now letting the gold pile up while I salvage a few weapons here and there to make sure I don't go full while doing multiple runs.

Killing mobs and bosses with people is fun.

Spending 20-30 minutes at a time going through your inventory to salvage a bunch of junk so you can start buying large chests again is not.

To add: A way to mark items for a mass salvage, similar to the Valuables tab in single player, would make the process a lot smoother. It's painful having to confirm for each and every item you salvage.

Yes, so much this. I am not even close to having a full inventory, but having a group salvage would be great. The only issue with this might be the random crafting mats roll that seems to occur in the background when you do the salvage confirmation. However, if doing a mass salvage would not break the system, I am all for it.

This is a good idea  :)

If you salvage everything in your inventory then not only will you increase the challenge of playing the game,

you will exponentially increase the excitement every time you open a chest

as even a Highland Dirk will be better than your base inquisition weapons  :D

I keep waiting for the "full inventory" warning to pop up, but it hasn't. Granted, I salvage the crap out of gear, though, and quickly. If it's not getting used by a character it's gone, that includes weapons, runes and armor upgrades...especially armor upgrades.

My brutal salvaging of weapons only excludes the Boon of the Spoon

because it's like the mission interrupted the Katari's lunch  :D

Definitely not my Boon of the Spoon. I'm a fan of weapon types that make bad guys explode...and it's a big spoon.

And not my Sword of the Champion, either, even it is only a rare. For reasons.

+1

Also, perhaps the ability to move items to a 'salvage bin' as you go through then in each chest that is opened ("press 'button' to move to salvage bin"); any items not tagged go to your inventory.

Perhaps this way the salvage bin would simply act as a buffer for X amount of items (200?).  When you're done buying chests, all you need do now is go empty the salvage bin.

K, a couple things here. "40 weapons" is not "2-3 best weapons for each class". There are in essence 5 classes of weapons. Staves, daggers, bows, 1h and 2h. 5 x 2-3 equals 10-15. You need to salvage some of the weapons you don't use.

Same with upgrades and runes. The only armor upgrades that are worth a damn are the ones that increase Willpower, Cunning, or Constitution. Salvage all of the ones that give resistances, unless you have a kit you use a lot that doesn't have anything else available to socket. It's ridiculous to be keeping 70+ upgrades. Go through and find out which ones give the highest stat bonuses and socket them to the armors of kits you use, give ones you don't use the lowest stat upgrades, and seriously just salvage the rest. The same with runes. If you still have weapons that aren't Superb'd then keep all your Superb Runes, or Masters if you don't have any. But once you are good on most of your weapons, there's no reason to keep any more than 1 or 2 of each Superb rune, and none of anything below that.

There. I just more than quadrupled your free inventory space.

*etc*

ok, I'm clearly not being brutal enough...

(salvages)

Weapons

  • 4 - One handed: Best Sword, Axe, Mace + Inquisition Longsword
  • 5 - Two handed: Best Greatsword, Greataxe, Maul + Inquisition Greatsword (and I'm not salvaging Boon of the Spoon which is cool).
  • 4 - Staves: Best of each element + Inquisition staff
  • 6 - Dagger: Best two Dual-Blades, best two daggers + 2 Inquisition daggers
  • 2 - Bows: Best Bow + Inquisition Longbow
  • 2 - Shields: Best Shield + Inquisition Shield

That's 23 weapons, not 10-15 (ok I could lose the Spoon to 22, but I won't ;) ).

For challenge purposes (who knows what will come) I'm keeping all elemental staff types and both base and dual-bladed daggers.

Accessories

I have kept:

  • 7 Belts
  • 11 Rings
  • 7 Amulets

Upgrades

I've kept Willpower, Cunning, Constitution and Health benefits, so that's:

  • 26 - Upgrades

And I'm down to:

  • 6 best Runes

80 items (phew) that makes a difference from 161 and a few crafting materials to boot...  :)

Staves, Daggers, Bows, 1H axes, 2H axes, 1H swords, 2H swords, 1H maces, 2H maces (ie. mauls).

I was kinda surprised the weapons challenge only had one for staves and not fire, cold and electric staves separately.

That's 9-11 weapon types you'd want to save, 11 if you're paranoid and don't trust that runes will count towards elemental kills (for achievement they do AFAIK) or 9 if you want to cover all the types.

Also some resistance upgrades are very helpful. For certain classes instead of salvaging I would make a resistance set and a regular good set consisting of stats and whatnot.

Still, OP is being a bit of a packrat there so the advice is valid.

Personally I salvage all upgrades below lv7 and all runes below master.

Masters and lv7's I keep 2 pieces of each type and higher quality than those I stash.

Edit: Sofa got there before me. Blast those keyboard typists! Oh and I forgot the shields.AoE daggers I left out intentionally. I'm not THAT paranoid.

That sounds a little better, definitely. Although iirc there hasn't ever been a challenge specifying the need for dual-bladed daggers or a certain staff element type, so you might be good with salvaging those. But who knows, maybe there will be challenges like that in the future and you will be ahead of the game. But all in all it looks like you did some good salvaging.

I don't see how you all get into this mess. I have about 15-20 superb runes, 20+ rings, 10+ belts and neck pieces, probably 20+ armor upgrades and 5-10 of every weapon. And I have only had it tell me I am full 2 or 3 times.

I am that paranoid. Dual-Blades and elemental magic - for the sake of 4 slots, would you really not put it past the devs to pull that one?  :D
