Poster's Foreword: I would have put this in Fan Fiction given the nature of this thread, but then I realized it may be better off to place it here for lack of a truly fitting place. I would like to make mention in advance that, also due to the nature of this thread, spoilers to the three main games in the series thus far will be common and not hidden in spoiler tags unless in the need to preserve space in an otherwise large post.

Introduction: The Dragon Age series is known for it's cast of unique characters, especially in the form of companions who accompany the player. Now, everyone has their own unique tastes and preferences when it comes to which of these companions they prefer to have follow them, this I understand. The Dragon Age and Bioware community itself is also a creative bunch, and I've been wanting to try and get this little exercise going for awhile. In this thread, I'd have liked to see people collaborate in the creation of a companion to accompany the player in the next Dragon Age. However, we only have a few assumptions to go on, and given we have not seen the end of the DLC for DA:I, I figure it may be best to change the original plan around to the following, and save the original premise for once we have more solid information on the next game.

 

Premise: In the following quote, I've placed the premise of this thread proper for you to read and partake in:
 

Objective: Together with the others partaking in this thread, strive to uniformly create a unique DLC companion* to join the Inquisitor in their fight against Corypheus.

 

As we discuss things, I'll strive to create synopsis posts of what has been discussed so far. The final synopsis, once largely satisfactory to the thread, will have a link placed to it here for future readings.

* Mind you, A DLC companion is likely never to happen given Bioware's past DLC companion controversy.

I'd like to begin the discussion on our First hurdle to clear:

 

1) First: Background, Class/Specialization, and Race

 

In Inquisition, we have Nine companions. I've included a very simplistic summary of them inside the following spoiler:

• Blackwall (Thom Rainier): Human, Male. Warrior (Champion). Grey Warden (Imposter)
• Cassandra Pentaghast: Human, Female. Warrior (Templar).  Right Hand of the Divine and a member of the Seekers of Truth.
• Cole: Spirit, 'male'. Rogue (Assassin). Conflicted Spirit of Compassion.
• Dorian: Human, Male. Mage (Necromancer/Mortalisi). Tevinter Noble.
• Iron Bull: Qunari, Male. Warrior (Reaver). Ben-Hassrath posing as a Mercenary.
• Sera: Elf, Female. Archer (Alchemist). Red Jenny member.
• Solas: Elf, Male. Mage (Rift Mage). Expert in Spirits and the Fade. The Dread Wolf

• Cassandra: A low ranking Nevarian Noble (76th in line for the throne). Member of a high ranking militant order of the Chantry and the Right Hand of the Divine
• Dorian: A member of the prestigious house of Pavus, albeit now a pariah in Tevinter.
•  Sera: Born an urchin, but taken in by a Fereldan noble.
• Varric: House Tethras was a part of the Noble Caste of Orzammar. Now disgraced, but very wealthy merchants on the surface.
• Vivienne: Very influential and high-ranking Loyalist mage. adept player of 'The Game'. Partakes in all the fancies of noble life.

Characters from a Middle class or Similar Background: Two

• Blackwall: Not confirmed, but we know that Blackwall is from a town called Martham in the Free Marshes. He was an Orlesian Captain. We also know that, in passing dialogues should neither Josephine or Blackwall be romanced by the Inquisitor, they will develop feelings for one another but cannot solidify anything due to a 'difference of stations', thus discounting him being of any noble stock.
• The Iron Bull: There is no 'class' in Qunari society as we know it. What we do know is that the Iron Bull is a member of the Ben-Hassrath, a feared force in the Ariqun (Thus making Iron Bull, hilariously enough, a Priest as far as Qunari society goes.).

Characters from other backgrounds: Two

 

Breakdown:[spoiler] (This spoiler won't work for some reason. I tried, I swear! ;~; )

• Solas: He's fen'Harel, the Dread Wolf of the Dalish Mythos. Prior to that reveal, a few 'tweets' by Patrick Weekes claim he was/supposedly was born to a small fishing village, spent most of his life wandering, and had no extended exterior training.
• Cole: a distorted Spirit of Compassion.

 

This information was typed up largely to help people see what we already had in terms of companions. I chose to ignore Advisors as we are not attempting to design such.
