How long do you think it will take for a sequel to DAI to come out?

My bet is on between two and a half and three years. Dragon Age is worked on by a largely separated team (although they're in the same studio and move people around a bit) so there's no need to delay development until after ME4 is completely finished. We should see DA4 some time in 2017.

I don't know what the correct answer time wise is, but I hope the team that makes the next game will have the time they need, and hopefully they'll go back to the ME3 approach of giving the forced multiplayer to seperate team so it doesn't nerf out healing magic and such. I know the new system works okay, but it feels wrong to be going back to camp for health potions instead of turning to a mage with healing magic.
I do however hope the wait for the next game isn't as horrific as the wait for this one felt. I think it'll help if I try not to follow the next game as closely though. The last year before release was a lot of fun in a way, but it was also very painful seeing all that footage and info and not being able to actually play.

Unless the new IP launches in 2017.
Mass Effect 2016
Dragon Age 2018
?
Then with three franchises BioWare would essentially have an annual release (which Finance people like).

Bioware is working on a new ip?
Gaider left DA to work on it. I assume it's Star Wars related as EA owns sole rights to Star Wars games until like 2025 or something. I might be overstating how long they have them but it's awhile.
At any rate I've assumed since they got them BW would do a Star Wars rpg

I hope it's around three years. Two years gave us DA2 which had the re-used level assets

I'm personally thinking five years. One to let ME4 come out & for its dlc to come out & four for actual development of the next Dragon Age. So around 2020.
Sounds right to me. They already got early pictures of the new MASS EFFECT in development for the new consoles ( :-( ) but if BIOWARE was as smart as how they were with DAI I would do 5-6 years again for the new DA game. To me the 2-3 years for DAO/DAA to DA 2 was to short because DA 2 was just meh.

5 years is too long. DAI was in development for almost 4 years and Bioware needed to rework Frostbite for their needs, which, i think, did take quite a lot of time. If the next DA will use Frostbite engine again, that'll save a lot of work. I'd say about 3 years until the next DA game, so around 2017.

You can't make a game the size of DA:I in 6 months or a year and a half without burning the team out

The sooner the better . I hate waiting years for a freakin video game. Right now they should be working on both some decent dlcs and DA4....no breaks .

It will take as long as it takes. Personally I can wait. Inquisition wasn't one of my favourite games ever and i'm not one of these people that solely plays Bioware titles. There will be tons of quality games coming out in the meantime.
I hope they get a long enough development cycle to radically improve upon or change the things that didn't work this time around. I've accepted that the DA franchise has probably hit it's peak (for me) in terms of enjoyment with Origins, but i'll probably always keep playing the games and hoping they can recapture what made Origins such a special experience for so many.

I'm hoping around 2017 or 2018.
If it were 2020... that'd be too long, especially if they were to use the Frostbite engine again. I do assume that they'll take some time to tweak the engine if needed, but it shouldn't need 5-6 years as if they were starting from scratch again.

This is a sensible answer. EA built their empire on the foundation of regularly scheduled annual releases. That's what their sports franchises do. Part of the early friction and issues with Bioware (like the rushed DA2 game or the rushed ME3 ending) were probably due to EA's desire to have a more regularly scheduled release cycle.
By having a third IP introduced, they're probably working towards Bioware eventually having three separate studios (Edmonton, Montreal, TBA) working on three separate non-MMO IPs (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Gaider's TBA) released every third year before the holidays. Thus, an annual November Bioware release. That's at least my guess as to what they're doing.
As for the OP, the DA release years were '09, '11 and '14. Given that DA2 was horribly rushed, realistically I would expect DA4 in November 2017.

There were 2.5 year gaps between the Mass Effects.
Mid/late 2017 for DA4 is logical if the new IP does not interfere - maybe that will be 2018.

It'll simply be referred to as Dragon Age 4. I'm sure it'll be a great success,

Well Bioware Is working on a new IP, and I doubt they'll want two of their properties to compete against each other.
So Id say that either one game has a 2-3 year development window while the other has a 5 year development.

I'm so not used to waiting this long. I played DAO, DAI, and DA2 for the first time, all within the last year (in that order lol).
Date of playthrough 1 completion:
DAO - Mar 2014
DAI - Dec 2014
DA2 - Jan 2015
I am so screwed. Maybe I'll go finish Mass Effect 2 while I'm waiting, after I'm done with DAI DLC... and after I create another Warden...
