After installing the game, it ran fine on the first launch. However, the second launch and so on only had sound during the intro splash screens for Bioware and EA. Going into the config tool and adjusting the sound from default to on and eventually off and back on did not help. Is anyone else having this problem - and if so did you find a solution. Playing with just subtitles is getting annoying.
I have:
Windows 7 Ultimate
2.8 GHz T9600 CPU
9600GT 512mb nVida video card
Realtek HD Audio
I am running this on a Macbook Pro through bootcamp.
Thanks

I am having a sound problem as well. However my problem is that the dialogue is too quiet or has an insane echo and is extremely annoying.

When I first ran the game i had SUPER quiet vocals but everything else was normal.
I don't know bootcamp but this is how I made everything normal sounding...
Configure on disc 1, then go to the "sound" tab
Click in the bottom right called "configure sound devices"
Click on your speakers and then click the "configure" button.
Adjust the audio channels to "stereo" (I technically have Dolby digital but my sound is all screwed up so i just use stereo).
Then next, next, finish. Click ok. And save settings in the configure and then try to play. Worked for me.. and i do have Realtek HD audio drivers.

I am having the same exact issue, on the initial install the game sounds worked fine. Playing it the next day, I get no sound in game - only sound in the Bioware and EA splash screen. I am seeing lots of sound problems on the forums, but mostly with Windows 7. All my drivers are up to date and other games such as Dragon Age, MWF 2, etc are working 100%. Need some help here!

anyone run into an issue that has the characters in the game speak then it cuts off right before they finish the sentence? I really need to find a remedy for this annoying issue so that I may play the friggin game in peace.

Yes, setting your sound card to "Stereo" seems to fix this problem where the dialog sounds are very faint. I have Creative Sound Blaster 24-Bit Live and encountered the same problem but after switching to "Stereo", the faint dialog sounds were gone.

I followed torrin1234's advice, however it did not seem to make a difference. The splash screens have audio but the intro sequence and the rest of the game do not. When I follow the configuration tool the speakers test out fine. But as soon as the game starts all the audio is gone. I am very confused. The only other setting I tried to change was the bitrate from 24 to 16, bu that still didnt do anything

I have this issue too (intro video sounds, actual game no sound). It DOES work at times, I've been able to get by it with fiddling with the config, changing audio to on/off/default, rescanning. Seems really random and more like a configuring error than anything, just don't know what to edit to make it stick. Realtek HD audio on ep45-ud3r here.

Yeah, its strange ... intro works perfectly, but in game ... there is nothing. Need some help from Bioware here, as this is not going away.

I am wondering if a reinstall might work - but will this nullify my downloaded content, cerberus login and gamestop preorder items?

I tried a reinstall ... did nothing. Messing with the config sometimes makes it work, then it will stop the next time I got to use it. Almost as if it chooses when to work.

I see lots of people having this issue with Windows 7 and even read one post that someone went back to Vista. Maybe this is a Win 7 issue only? Not sure on this though, just something I have noticed.

Now that I think about it the sound worked before I installed the terminus armour, the TWeed or tzeed character extra and the normandy crash download - I wonder if other people are also having problems with the DLC. I remember bringing down the sky messing my graphics up quite a bit initially. Anyone else experience this sound issue after the DLC installations?

I get this same problem. I just exit and restart a couple of times until the game sound comes back. It's annoying but it gets the job done. I too am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

Hmmm, havent got the download content yet ... been working on getting the sound working, so havent got to it. Shattered I have done the same thing, and it sometimes works. Guess I will get the download content now.

I upgraded to the newest driver version from Realtek (R241) and still have the issue, but the sound seems to come back easier after getting them.

It could be something in your Direct Sound subsystem. Did you run dxdiag and do the sound tests?

Got the same Problem here.
Installed it yesterday, first launch worked perfectly. Since then, I have to launch the Game multiple times (up to 5 times or so) till I get Sound in the Menu, then theres Sound ingame as well. EA and Bioware Introvideos working well.
System:
Intel Core i5-750
4GB Ram
Radeon 4890
Creative X-Fi Extreme Music
Win 7 x64
all Drivers are up-to-date

No issues in dxdiag. No problems playing other games, including ME1. When it does decide to work there are no issues... wtf?

installed the system (because of HDD-Change) a few weeks ago, all other Games working well. Besides I didn't change the Soundcard or anything.

My dxdiag is showing no issues at all and using the most up to date drivers as well. Seems to be more and more people having this issue now to, across several sound chipsets.

I had this same problem. I switched my sound type from Dolby Prologic to 6 Channel Direct and the issue was resolved. Not sure why it was resolved but it worked for me. If you have these settings on your sound card or speaker controller then making this change should alleviate your issue.
