...aaaand Gurd Harofsen dead. Soloed with my warrior.

Before you ask, yes that's a confusion grenade. The full fight is currently processing and is probably much, much more interesting to show how did I manage to kill all four mages while keeping the two bruisers alive (it doesn't work with only one, since Gurd will freeze him). This video is merely for bragging rights :)

in before assassin nightmare solo within 50 seconds via offense tonic and fade touched mats

in with warrior nightmare solo within 40 seconds via confusion grenade :D

Edit: here's the full fight:

mind blast

and something else?

Mindblast, Hidden Blades 5 and Walking Fortress 5.

Gear has 39% chance to stagger on hit and 71% chance to stagger on being hit, so mind blast and hidden blades have a good chance to trigger combo every time they proc.

Edit: here's a montage of the entire clear. If you can help me understand what the hell happened with the spies I'll be happy to hear about that.

As you can see I use a Hakkon's Wrath sword for most of the cleanup (it has higher dps, higher ability damage, and the life on kill allowed me to not even use a single potion resupply until after the boss died).

with trials turned on those regenerating barrier mages are a b***** (without confusion grenades).

Here is my last solo, 2 versions. nm all trials on, the first is the grenade strategy, the second (trickier) without using confusion grenades, but also very effective if you are a necromancer lol.

but I really highly recommend playing qunari mage now as damage boost from vitaar is significant and you need it to burst damage those spellbinder barriers.

I watched a Youtube vid last night of a solo, NM, all Trials battle in Descent, and it was kind of unintentionally hilarious. The player kept cursing and raging every time the boss regenerated barrier. His 100% crit chance bow just wasn't cutting it. Instead of the usual 12 seconds, the battle took over 12 minutes. WTG Trials!

The part about being a Qunari, the problem I have with it is, it might make the early pre-skyhold and pre-stealth pretty hard to solo. I personally couldn't deal with elite Terror/Wraith rifts in the Hinterlands without spirit resistance headgear on my warrior, and however you go about it, you're pretty much required to deal with some of those before IYHSB

just killed the descent final boss on NM wit all trials on almost instantly before the boss even moves... got my quisi to cast a static cage, and used iron bull to dragon rage the boss, and i made sure bull was below half health before going into the fight. equiped belt of urgency, chromatic sword, ring of pain plus low health bonus, with static cage also dishing out dmg...

i was rather disappointed in that the fight ended too quickly. didnt even get see what that big guardian golem is capable of. the fight is over when ring of pain drained about half of my stamina on reaver.

Rifts would be difficult no doubt about it. Mages have light armour though so more slots for spirit resitence. otherwise just guardian spirit/ barrier mana surge to freeze stuff. WITH golden nug schematics you can still almost one shot anything frozen with winter's grasp winters ruin. Fire mine destroys stuff that gets close to you.

In your opinion, how many skill points would be required to deal with your first elite Terror rift?

descent final boss is a joke, with the new elemental pact belt I can take him down with my usual necro alone with static cage/ walking bomb, and lightning staff in under a minute of pure damage goodness. And that's usually at lvl 19/20 as I do not go to Jaws/ endgame before descent. The fight before that on the bridge is tough though.

No restriction, just go all-out exploit, convince me it's possible :)

Well Encore staff is OP. Elite terrors won't be an issue unless they are 3-4 Levels higher than me. This is lvl 4 trying some rifts. I can't take on enemies 3-4 Lvls higher than me in groups and just "tank" them, that I know. Same lvl probably no problem whatsoever. I know for sure after doing these tests I can handle 2-3 Greater Terrors at once with this setup for sure as long as they are lower than lvl 8 or so. Otherwise I would do something like farm some tier materials somewhere and upgrade gear. But like that lvl 12 rift I would not do at this stage, its too much effort in auto attacking 20 minutes for whats its worth. An the second wave when all enemies agro on me is when I know I have to retreat.

Encore is op at the beginning of the game via golden nug, late game as I said it is one of the best staffs no doubt but there are other great staves like hakkons wisdom unique, heart of rage, or heart of pride.

Okay, so the key is to basically exploit the Encore regeneration buff coupled with Energy Barrage to counter Rub Some Dirt On It, then exploit the barrier destruction aoe freeze and to burst with winter's grasp.

To be honest I didn't even look at the crafting recipes made available to non-warriors. Encore is impressive!

Like I mentioned, an easy way for the Warrior to deal with all those early fights with the Golden Nug is to stack resistances until guard generation becomes enough to outlast anything they can throw at you; then the hard part becomes dealing with the odd attack for which you have no resistance/armor, such as an archer's exploding arrow or a despair demon's frost attacks; the helmet slot is critical as it provides a ton of resistances, turning 30s into 10s, and a painful death into a snorefest.

That's how I could kill Envy at level 5 with full health - equally cheaty as Encore :)

I'm thinking of viable Qunari warrior options now, but I'm falling short.

i usually run quanri mage. the extra dmg from vitaar is... ridiculous. i think the top vitaar give plus 24 base dmg.
without the vitaar, i do 18k per fire mine
with vitaar, i do 23k per fire mine

And the final Trespasser boss:

Required perfect playing though basically as he has insane elemental resistances so good luck dealing damage to him as a mage without a superb elemental pact belt on which means my health was at a grand total of 217 hp! And as necro necro one does not have fade shield. But some other tricks though. I opted for Heart of Pride because the +50% attack speed looks really cool and dynamic though it does probably less damage than a crafted staff except on electric attacks with the superb storm pact, there the attack speed probably more than makes up for it. I got used to playing without mark of the rift and did not want to change my quickbar to something I am not used to. The most dangerous demon wave is the second with potential fire dots which destroy necro as self revive is tricky when one is burning. That is the highlight of the video as I took it out somehow? in less than 3 seconds literally. Had no chance to spirit mark the rage demon lol (he helped me on several attemps before). The pride demon at the end was stupid ai when marked unfortunately. A little mistake happened toward the end too and some luck/ skill saved me. Was a dynamic fun fight for sure. Enjoy guys!

Averting eyes upon seeing the word "Trespasser ..."

Hey now, how about putting that in spoiler tags? This thread's name leads you to believe it spoils JoH, but not Trespasser. I've barely started Trespasser, trying to avoid spoilers.

Sorry but that is why I put " trespasser" and "boss" right at the top of the post to make clear what it is. And I don't think one snapshot of a video will spoil what the heck it is. I would spoiler something though related to plot/ characters like lines of dialogue etc.
