Just to play Advocate here:

 

-Steam has some of the worst customer support among any digital client with waits of upwards of 1 to 2 weeks just for an automated response.

 

- Steam has no refund policy and have been brought to court in Europe numerous times on anti-Consumerism laws.  Steam has normally changed there EULA and forced people to agree to it or be locked out of there games whenever this happens (This is why you no longer legally own games on Steam and other clients and are merely "Subscribing" to it).

 

- There have also been issues with Steam Greenlight concerning shady deals that developers do to get votes (Giving free games or privileges) to get there games on Steam which has resulted in a lot of shovelware hitting the service of late (Even Steam has admitted Steam Greenlight has backfired on them)

 

- Steam also allows the developer free reign in the game forums and many have abused these by deleting negative criticism and creating fake accounts to generate positive feedback for there game.

Same as digital version.  You are not buying the game you are merely purchasing a subscription to it.

 

Hell the main Agreement is called a "Subscriber's Agreement"
