Then please stop making blanket statements and picking apart my rhetoric. If you're displeased, then state it. Everyone should voice their displeasure in a civil manner if this upsets them, that lets everyone know that they take issue, and it's one, albeit minor, step in getting issues like this rectified, or at least making companies pause before they pull moves like that.

That said, when you personally make an attempt to pick apart what I say, then expect people to respond in kind. I made a statement, I'm not all that upset by this, it's much better than some of the other possible outcomes, all of a sudden I've got "extreme" examples, blanket BW apologist statements, and multiple post, by you, telling me "that's wrong", and how my diatribe amounts to "I'm apathetic". When I reciprocate it's not okay though?

Edit: And, as a note I detest this practice. I detest a lot of modern gaming practices though: Ripping content out of a game to sell as DLC, locked content on-disk, Day 1 DLC, games having less and less content, and reused assets to be made as cheaply as possible, but sold at full price, yearly releases of certain franchises, and a lack of focus on innovation for the tried and true, and the need to answer to stockholders, CEOs, and the love of the almighty dollar and the bottom line.

I'm also a realist though. I know that people won't boycott this DLC over a 2 month delay, because if gamers were going to make a stand, they would have done so before now. I want them to, I really do, but they, and I will not. So no, I'm not all that upset by the delay, as I said, better than some other possible outcomes.

Microsoft has been doing this for years not still not sure why people act all surprised.

Activision has done it

Bethseda has done it (the fact that they did must mean it's good since everyone seems to believe they can do no wrong)

Square-Enix is doing it with an entire game (Rise of the Tomb Raider)

I have been gaming for a long time i'm used to the "exclusive bullshit" Publishers pull Not having a PS2 or 3 prevented me from playing lots of exclusives. But i'm fine with permanent exclusives especially when I know that platform dev is contributing to the game (as was the case with Bayonetta 2 and latest Tomb raider).  What I don't like is timed exclusives no matter how many times it is done IT IS NEVER GOOD and is this case EA effectively temporarily denied content   for a truckload of money cos reasons  those who haven't got next gen consoles yet (haven't seen a single killer APP for either just yet) or haven't  an XBOne are treated like second rate customers never mind that our money is all the same or that we may want buy other games in May no lets forget about cos  MS was a good lay and we were kinda drunk at the time....  if this post makes very little sence it's cos i'm really angry about this whole affair right now

So it's going to be $5 cheaper for each month we have to wait to get it, right?

A late May release would make it so that we only have to pay $5 to get it, right? Seeing as you apparently don't give a **** about our money, I think that's only fair.

Oh, it's not going to be any cheaper? We'll still have to pay full price for it?

Hard. Pass.

This isn't an MS exclusive thing. Sony do it as well. Its an industry wide practice.

Consumers have only one real way to vote.  With their wallets.

Don't think it's worth the price (considering cost, wait time, alternative options)?  Don't buy it.

All else "... is a tale. Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing."

*sigh* Well, it could be worse. Under other circumstances I wouldn't mind waiting two months for a DLC. I still find both the exclusivity and the way it was handled a major annoyance, and I definitely don't feel like a valued customer of any of the companies involved at this point.

Just to point out as a reminder, this delay is ONLY for this first SP DLC. Any other DLC thereafter will NOT be under the Microsoft contract delay. Thank the Maker.

Has this actually been directly confirmed by Bioware, EA, or Microsoft? If so, great, but if not then unfortunately it's just speculation - we have no idea what other agreements are in place.

Whelp, looks like I will be extending my DAI break until May when the Jaws of Hakkon DLC and The Black Emporium are supposed to be released for Xbox 360.  At least I can catch up on some other games in the meantime...

I have nothing I can quote for you other than the gaming article I linked on Page 2. Which was a synopsis of the E3 announcement by BioWare/EA/Microsoft.

Now those who own Xbox 360 would understand how we PC users feel. Sure we received the DLC since day 2 but the keyboard + mouse mess is still there hampering the gameplay. Neglecting fanbase for $$ is what is EA known for.

and yet they also make it possible to add more players to a particular franchise. If it wasn't for EA I would have never have played me1 and or 2 for that matter.

I didn't mean to sound like I was shooting the messenger, so sorry if it came off that way. :)

I'm glad that particular agreement applied only to the first DLC, but I'm going to be pretty cautious about making assumptions about the future since I don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

I wonder if this deal will continue in future bioware games like what microsoft do with the call of duty map packs. This might become a regular thing for xbox getting some dlc first.

I'm too old to have too much time to devote to gaming. I based my decision about buying a new console late last year on the fact that DAI was coming out on PS4, PS3, 360 and Xbone at the same time. That led me to believe that I could safely make a console choice for this game based on the fact that I didn't need the newest console until ME4 came out. If Bioware had mentioned that any DLC would be subject to timed exclusives, I would have made a different decision.

What pisses me off is that the game was supported across all platforms at launch. Now, without any warning, we learn that some of us are going to be treated as second-class citizens going forward. That rubs me the wrong way, because I have always been in the vanguard of supporters of Bioware projects with purchases prior to and on release. This situation certainly does NOTHING to convince me to come out of pocket for an Xbone.

I just finished my 2nd DAI playthrough. I'm going to put this game aside now, and I likely won't have time to revisit it in MAY when Bioware deigns to take my money. This whole situation is unfortunate. These timed exclusives should have been implemented at launch or not at all.

Yes same here, doesn't look like Bioware/EA thought that through very well. Especially as Witcher is going to have a load of free dlc on release too.

I am pretty sure BioWare could not see into the future and predict that CD Projekt would delay their game into May.  This exclusivity was announced during the Microsoft press conference during E3 2014 back when The Witcher 3 was a much closer release to Dragon Age: Inquisition.

To the topic of disliking exclusives Microsoft and EA are getting the backlash here, but all major publishers have done it for both consoles.  Playstation has the exclusive content for Ubisoft games and exclusive content for Arkham Knight, not to mention the silly length of one year for the exclusivity for the Day 1 content for Destiny, Microsoft has the two month window for the first DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition and an unknown length exclusivity for Rise of the Tomb Raider.  Personally I think publishers will hear more from us if we don't buy this content for the platform its exclusive for because I feel that they take the loss of sales from people that aren't going to buy it into account since with DLC the longer it takes to have it available for purchase the less people will buy it, but that is just my feeling on the matter.

There was plenty of warning.  You weren't paying attention.  The EA<-->MS XBox One timed  exclusive for the first DLC was publicized well in advance of the initial game release.  And honestly, what difference does it make?  So some platforms won't have it for a few more weeks.  So what?  It's not like some other publishers who don't release certain material for certain platforms at all.

A time frame of sorts. I can wait, I'm going on vacation in May anyway.

All timed exclusive content for multi-platform games annoys me, whether it is Sony or Microsoft throwing money around.

Some people will complain about anything. Smh.

LOL, so this is not a valid thing to complain about? I already have the DLC being a PC player but I still understand the frustration these players may be going through.

Touche. Always good to remember that things can change as well, especially over long periods of time. A healthy dose of caution is usually not a bad thing, in my opinion. Helps to keep expectations in check. That way, if things turn out well, you're elated and if they turn out not so well, at least you aren't thrown into the depths of angst.

This exclusivity deal was announced months before release, at E3. It should only apply to the first DLC, though.

There is literally nothing to spoil.  That's how bad this DLC is.  There's hardly any story to speak of.

That almost makes me feel good! I'm still gonna wait till xbox has one of those sales and just get all the DLC then....

You know, that's how I got most of the DLC for DAO on the PS3.  Heck, I think that almost all of it was free when I got it.

Though I bought mine in Japan.  With the exception of Darkspawn Chronicles, most of the major stuff comes included.  Just like DAII.

I wanted to find the exact date and it was June 9th during the Microsoft E3 press conference.  It was at the end of the "Lead them or Fall" official trailer for the game with the text "Premium Content - First on Xbox 1".  Multiple websites had a write up on that presentation and I think they all mentioned the exclusivity and these forums were upset at that time too.  Also back at that time The Witcher 3 was scheduled to be released February 24th, not in May.

At least PS4 players will have the BE mirror before they start playing JoH.

Kinda Ninja'd  :D

Is that how we will get to the BE, through an Eluvian?
