Hmm, well waiting to give it to us until May most likely means I'll be over my "Argh, I need this now" phase, as plenty of spoilers will be out by then. Hopefully the next DLC isn't timed exclusive as I may be waiting to get this at the same time as the next DLC release instead of as soon as it's available to me. I'm not sure yet, I guess we'll see once May rolls around.

I believe one of the Bioware reps (can't think of his name right now) stated in another thread that Bioware is as mad as PS4 owners but they couldn't do anything about it for this DLC which leads me to believe it is MS who is screwing us not BIoware. He did say all future PS4 (and PS3 as well I think) DLC will be released on the same day as Xbone 1 DLC.

All future DLC for DAI will be.

But nothing's preventing EA from pulling this same stunt again for the next Dragon Age game.  Or Mass Effect.  Or this third IP.

It's true. Nothing is sacred, and people should prepare for the worst. We live in a gaming world where Bungie has exclusivity deals with Sony and Tomb Raider has exclusivity deals with Microsoft.

Having said that, if two months is the worst we can expect, then I don't really care. If we start getting into a year then I'll start furrowing my brow.

You know, I think BioWare--especially Mark Darrah--deserves some credit for actually responding to people when they didn't have to and couldn't even say anything. Crystal Dynamics have completely ignored PC/Playstation-owning Tomb Raider fans for the better part of a year.

So cheers to you, BioWare, for being nice to people who were angry at you for something you had no control of. You're good people.

True but why worry about DLC for games that haven't been released yet?

I agree. Bioware didn't have to say anything but they do care about what their fans think which is nice. Most other game companies probably wouldn't do the same thing.

Silly people, May is the month of the WItcher. No chance in hell will this ps4 owner be buying a delayed dlc when Witcher 3 comes out. DAI will be shelved for good until really meaty dlc comes out or part 4.

I don't think Bioware had anything to do with the release date. Again it is MS that is controlling this not Bioware.

EA has everything to do with the release date. Don't forget that BioWare is "A Division" of EA Games, they do what EA tells/pays them to do. EA made a deal with MS a long time ago and now they are making good on that deal, for which they got paid a ton of $. These exclusivity deals are nothing new, and I fail to understand why people spend so much time and energy complaining about them. They aren't going away. Feel lucky that since EA took over BioWare, only 2 DLCs have had a timed exclusive (one for ME2 and JoH). EA is one of the masters of exclusivity deals, it could be much, much worse.

I'm really not trying to be snarky here, but do people honestly only play one game at a time? I could see myself playing The Witcher and also this DLC, the latter is not very long, and it's not like there's a learning curve.

I do. I can't keep track of more than one set of controls at a time. I'm a simpleton.

I sometimes play two.  Occassionally even three at a time.  But I can't divide my attention any further than that.  The games I play tend to be heavy on the narrative, so playing more than one of them is like reading more than one book at once.

I'll believe it when I don't have to wait two months for DLC.

I wanted to find the exact date and it was June 9th during the Microsoft E3 press conference.  It was at the end of the "Lead them or Fall" official trailer for the game with the text "Premium Content - First on Xbox 1".  Multiple websites had a write up on that presentation and I think they all mentioned the exclusivity and these forums were upset at that time too.  Also back at that time The Witcher 3 was scheduled to be released February 24th, not in May.

They didn't really give us any idea what that entailed, though. The original game release came first to Xbox One, but it wasn't a big deal - a week or so of early access if I recall correctly.

Based on that vague announcement I would not have expected having to wait a couple of months and being fully spoilered by the time it came out, let alone being left hanging for a week without so much as a release date or an acknowledgment that their other customers exist.

I understand all of the the above but it it still my right and that of others to vent our anger at EA & MS when they treat us like an underclass. If this were a platform exclusive deal I think myself any many others might be fine with it those are designed to push up platform sales. Timed exclusives like this one are sticking up two fingers to the opposing company (in this case sony) and those who didn't upgrade to XBOne and most cases if not all they never increase sales of either platform or game in short it just pisses people off

You're right, there's no guarantee that EA / MS won't pull off another stunt like this.  However, we as consumers can teach them a lesson that these deals are not worth it - by not buying the Hakkon DLC.  Money talks - in fact, it can speak louder than any other form of protest.

But based on other timed exclusivity agreements, you might have. 2 months isn't out of the ordinary.

Still not okay, though.

Either support a platform or don't.  Don't cater to some and treat the rest like second class.

I guess that depends what you mean by okay. I don't like it but I'll continue to buy the products regardless, so I guess by definition I find it "acceptable."

This situation has made we want to register just so I could share my opinion on this matter.

I love Bioware. I always have. The games they make, and the way they try to give it their all. I had moments when I doubted them, but stuck with the idea that there will always be a few bad decisions made which they can't back out from.

This whole situation goes beyond something I expect from Bioware and I truly believe the only reason they did this is because their hands are tied. I blame the whole rivalry between Microsoft and Sony and the powermad people within the marketing department.

This is a tactic to get the most loyal fans to buy their newest product to make money off of it. I despise it so much, that the hatred stains my opinion of Bioware. Bioware, the company that inspired me to want to eventually work on these kinds of games myself.

I would love to have enough power to change this situation, and I bet a lot of people within Bioware feel the same way. But contracts were signed, and now they're stuck with it.

In short: Don't hate the players, don't hate the game. Hate marketing.

I agree with the sentiment that it was the lack of release date that was more frustrating than the actual delay itself. I'm sure there's a marketing reason behind it but still frustrating nonetheless. We still don't have an actual date! I wonder if they found some loophole in the agreement and they just really wanted to appease us by giving us at least the month?

From what i've heard regarding this DLC you shouldn't have a problem with playing this DLC and another game then, unfortunately.
