Not crying over it, but the separate release dates are dumb.  It's the kind of thing you'd think they'd want to avoid in order to not make a mess of things and have people angry or flaming threads (which most probably don't even read, still...).  Yes, I am a PS4 player.  I also play on PC, but haven't purchased for PC yet.  I understand the business aspect of it.  Companies pay for the exclusivity of being the first to release the DLCs and therefore people will want that system either over the other or multiple systems in order to get their gaming fix.  It's a dirty business, isn't it?  Money, money, money.

For those of you trying to comfort the PS players, don't.  It's not helping.  "At least..." Shhhhh.  We'll get over it.

I'm surprised that PS4 is getting lumped in with last gen.

To be fair, as we move towards the end of the year there is going to be more and more logic to keeping Xbox One and PC together for releaseses. Both will be running Windows 10 soon, both will have a lot more common ground with each other from a Dev point of view to PS4.

But I believe this will be the only obligatory staggared release, so it might be a moot point for Dragon Age at least.

Sony is the market leader. I imagine this timed-exclusivity deal was perhaps made even before the two consoles launched. The deal Square made with Microsoft regarding the timed-exclusivity of the Tomb Raider sequel also comes to mind as being made before everyone knew just how successful the PS4 was going to be; they probably misjudged the market and believed that the Xbox brand would continue to be the powerhouse that it was during the 360-gen and continue to edge out Sony's market share.

Honestly I feel like BioWare may have been forced into this deal by EA, but either way they certainly went into the deal before the success of the ps4 was confirmed.

I also suspect they may have released the dlc they felt would be the least well received in an attempt to lessen the blow for the multitude of people that have to wait 2 months for said dlc.  This dlc sounds really boring to be quite honest, and unless there's a price drop before release it will literally be a coin toss on me getting it or not.

Why would I care about expansions when I don't even know how much I'll like the vanilla game?

Because CDPR is on the job and they never make mistakes...

Some of us just don't give a damn about The Witcher 3 (or 2, or 1 for that matter), and likely more people than you think don't either. 43407.gif

There might have been some irony in that line  ;)

Either way, DA and the Witcher are both successful fantasy world game series.

DAI's critical & financial success have been proven, the Witcher 3 has not yet, we shall see.

I've had a ton of fun from DAI and will be back to the JoH Frostback Basin once I've levelled up a bit.

I also have the Witcher 3 on preorder as liking one series does not preclude liking the other, nor am I forced to agonise over which is 'better'...

You might need to replace your sarcasm detector, because yours is obviously broken. ;)

Heresy! How dare you have a different opinion about a game than me?

Spoiler

Honestly I find the previous two witcher games good but not enough to warrant a pre-order from me.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not really excited about it based on what I've read so far but I will probably still get it if for no other reason than it gives me a chance to play more DA:I.

I never played the first Witcher since it was a PC only game (which needs to be fixed IMO). I did enjoy the Witcher 2 however and I am really looking forward to the last installment which has been pushed back a day to May 19. If you didn't/don't like the Witcher series that's fine but you shouldn't assume that a large number of people don't like it either. I believe it is one of the most anticipated games of 2015 outside of Halo 5.

I m sorry Bioware but I will be playing The Witcher 3 (I m on PS4), I wanted this DLC but you dissrespected your Sony fanbase here, not only the PS4 is leading the market (not the Xbox) but we paid 70 bucks for the damn game too.

So yeah I want to play this DLC, I want to support you guys but here I will wait for a big discount sorry.

Next time for the next DLC don't do this, because everyone should be on the same level.

They originally implied that, but then they changed their mind on the basis that the expansions are big.

I really don't get how folks can't play both TW3 and JoH at the same time. Why does it have to be one or the other?

It's called the Highlander Fallacy. "There can be only one!"

Sorry BioWare, but if you get so much bashing lately you sorta deserve it for this fiasco. I'm really mad but I won't go ahead and cuss on the boards. I already reacted elsewhere. So much for respecting your clients and preaching equal rights in your series...

While I'm definitely not happy about the situation (PS4 player here), I have a strong feeling this wasn't necessarily BioWare's decision to make. It likely came from "higher authority" and, well, if that's the case, BioWare would've had no choice but to be held hostage by it and take the flak for a decision they ultimately had no control over.

I have zero proof of this, naturally, but it's just a suspicion I have. I could be 100% wrong.

The way that BioWare tweets have been tinged with 'not our decision' is not proof,

but it implies their disappointment with the situation.
