I haven't used the gun since I first completed the challenge months ago because I wasn't very good with it. I see lots of people dominating with it but I don't know if there's a trick to it that I'm missing. Charged vs. non charged shots, shooting at the enemy or at the ground depending on the enemy, etc. I also would love to hear what builds you guys use with it. Definitely would love to add it to my repertoire!

The advantage in the weapon is not just the ammo application over a wide area but the fact that it can effectively stagger lock mobs and at the same time hits a helluva lot harder than most stagger stick weapons like the Falcon or Striker.
A charged shot splits into a trident pattern which has grenadelets, each of which will proc an enemy with ammo based power. Really works well with multidetonators like multifrags and cluster grenades. Generally I'll charge shot just in front of a mob and then pop my detonator on it. You're not getting as powerful an explosion like say a 6+6 explosion but you're getting multiple explosions. Not to mention the weapon owns Phantom's and Dragoon's ass without even worrying about detonating.
You could probably see a lot of vids with the weapon in the Plat HOF that will demonstrate just how obscene it is with the proper setup.

Personally, it's my favorite Venom kit and build. He dominates on Platinum, but that will depend on skill, faction, and map. The wrong combination can lead to unexpected results.

i too struggle with it Despite knowing the theory. But it s a L2P problem.
Good hints and build allready. The valkyrie might be a tankier version of the fury with it.

Op, u know that charged shot dont do lot of extra damage ? So mostly it s only for the first shot and should almost never delay Ur firing. Except for applying ammo power, sure.
And i guess u need to get used to loose some shots even on host
Try to charge up the gun when you can - you can always charge up guns while running
Apply ammo effects and blow them up
Look for enemy concentrations
Be able to hit with single projectiles
Works fine with increased running perks
Use terrain for trick shots (the projectiles blow up quickly after hitting something - so no extensive indirect fire)
Don't use AP or Drill ammo
