How could I forget one of my other most favorite animals. I'm dumb.

Started researching more about them after seeing this movie as a kid.

I have a strict zero hoots policy and the post above me is really triggering.
I love my hoots.

I love my hooters too...my shirt that is. ![]()

I have this one but in black and pink instead from Las Vegas. I only wear it at home though, not in public.
I also like this lemur, the Coquerel's Sifaka. Or as I like to call them, Zoboomafoo.

This movie is one of my favs (being remade soon, because my childhood hasn't been violated enough already)

If something is fantastic, don't change it. Freakin Hollywood.

There are too many to count, but at the moment I've grown especially fond of Asian Elephants. I've been reading a bit on their evolutionary history, their shared history with man, & current conservation issues. The one in the picture is a unique individual who has a type of dwarfism that people also can have. It's doubtful he'll be able to mate properly, but he still fights other bulls. Unfortunately he isn't as quick to evade angry farmers as other elephants & so carries scars from shotgun attacks.
I have always had a deep reverence for Elephants & Rhinos
DID SOMEBODY SAY PENGUINS?!

... It was me.
... I said it.

I think this thread needs some cuttlefish. Cuttlefish are most known for their habit of coming out of darkspace every 50,000 years to wipe out all intelligent life in the galaxy.

In all seriousness, cuttlefish are actually very interesting animals. They're very intelligent for invertebrates, and have very sophisticated color-changing camoflage. But don't just take my word for it:
This should just be a general animal thread now. Share vids, gifs, facts, etc.
Even though I mentioned very few animals, there are a lot of creatures out there that I find to be absolutely fascinating. I actually enjoy watching stuff like Planet Earth, learning about animals and the habitats they dwell in around the earth.
Like this one.

The Box Jellyfish. I'm sure a lot of you have heard about it. Most well known for being one of the most deadliest creatures that currently roams this earth. It can completely shut down your nervous system while munching on your skin cells and stopping your heart.
If you manage to live, you'll be left with a sick scare but accompanied by pain for the next few days and even weeks.
What some people may not know is that they are literally popping up everywhere. At first they were mostly around northern Australia and off the coasts of Japan, but now they're soon going to be taking over the ocean. So they say based on their reproduction rate.
Box jellies also have highly advanced eyes for a damn jellyfish. They have no brain ofc but from what has been studied, one species of box jellies use their eyes to help them navigate. That's no meager behavioral task for something that lacks a brain tbh.
These suckers grow to 10ft/3m long and about 10in/25cm across btw.
Man, perhaps H.P. Lovecraft got Cthulhu's image wrong. Box jellies are gonna be taking over. Keep vinegar handy tbh.
*inb4 Hollywood makes a horror movie on box jellies*
I enjoy the Thylacine. Also known as the Tasmanian Tiger, this animal has been known to be extinct since 1936. My fascination began in grade-school when I saw a picture in a science textbook and learned it could open its jaw almost ninety degrees. After extensive research on this animal, I can say it is my favorite. What is better than mixing a kangaroo and a wolf with tiger stripes. Some people still believe it is alive in remote areas of Tasmania.

Warning: It is so bland...
Maybe less bland:

Have you seen the film footage of the last Tasmanian Tigers?
....what a tragedy that they are all gone now, and all because of man.

I was obsessed with Zomboomafoo for a time when I was younger. ![]()
This little bundle of cute is a Kinkajou. They're related to raccoons and eat things. People have them as pets but supposedly they get mean so...
Anyway yeah Kinkajous!

Can we do the scariest animals? My pick would be the Asian Giant Hornet. Native to Japan, it grows to be a little over two inches (over 5 cm) in length on average; that's pretty damn big for a wasp. The hornets are highly aggressive and can fly at speeds of up to 25 mph (40 khp), so if you disturb a nest, you're pretty much done. Their venom is a potent neurotoxin that will kill even non-allergic people in sufficient quantities. These things kill about 30 to 40 people a year in Japan. Here's a picture of the damn things:

Here's a video clip of Japanese military personnel using a flamethrower to destroy a nest.
^ Yes. This is just the 3rd insect mentioned in this thread. I'm disappoint.
Here's a bug.
This is a Box Elder Bug. It's a a "true bug" and does absolutely nothing. Really not one goddamn thing.

Well except this
I have them at my house. They're not that bad. But they're annoying as hell. ![]()
