How would you like to see it all end? Mass Effect has wiped the slate clean, so one can assume at one point Dragon Age will. I for one would like to see an endgame that brings back all PC's under player control and has them working in different parts of Thedas towards stopping the final Blight, which has two archdemons, and Solas, who I imagine will resort to some drastic measures to restore his people. It would be cool to see powerful factions like the Inquisition and Wardens struggling over limited resources while still trying to work together, and the political jostling to see who comes out the true winners in the end. Followers with more than one loyalty (i.e. Varric) would have to be won over by one faction or another based on their actions. It would be awesome to see the Inquisitor working with/against the HoF/Warden Commander, Hawke (if alive), and the PC from the next game.

Great idea. I love what you're saying, and I would love an endgame where the Hero of Ferelden, Hawke and the Inquisitor could team up with all the other orgs in the game to defeat one final Big Bad.
However, I'm very afraid/irritated by something Mike Laidlaw said in a Kotaku interview about bringing back the Warden: "Pretty unlikely, which I know disappoints some folks, but I have some pretty serious concerns about making a character who had no voice suddenly have one. It feels as if it will be dissonant. The Warden is and was an awesome character, and I don't want to risk "wrecking" those memories, even unintentionally." this is the link for the full interview : http://kotaku.com/ko...uisi-1694123219

This bothers me immensely. It almost sounds like he's trying to excuse his own laziness to do something A LOT of people would love to see happen. I hope I'm wrong, because I really respect the guy. He himself states that it's all about leaving your comfort zone. Well, why doesn't HE leave HIS comfort zone and tackle this challenge? I'm sorry, Brownie56, I don't want to digress.
My point is: putting together all the badasses/main characters from all the games to confront the Biggest Bad ever, would be an excellent idea! :)

Oh don't worry that interview frustrated me as well. I am firmly against the new PC every game approach. I did another spin as a Dalish Elf Inquisitor because my human character felt way too much like my Warden, and being mean to characters the Warden was nice too is kind of fun (Suck it Morrigan!) I'm especially worried about the anticipated trip to Tevinter as it seems like the options for different types of character are a bit more limited.

THANK YOU, brownie56! I was beginning to think I was the only one feeling like that. I don't know what it is, but sometimes Laidlaw rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's the other way around, I dunno.... I just get this very insecure/ arrogant attitude from him, even though I highly respect his work. Maybe I'm projecting... I feel bad passing judgement on the guy, bc truthfully, I barely know him.

It would be awesome to see the Inquisitor working with/against the HoF/Warden Commander, Hawke (if alive), and the PC from the next game.

So, how does this work if both the Hero of Ferelden and Hawke are gone?

For that matter, let's assume that both the HoF and Hawke are dead, and the following characters are narratively unavailable due to either death or lack of loyalty to any major PC:

Alistair: Dead in Origins or in Inquisition

Zevran: Dead in Origins

Wynne: Dead (either in Origins or the novels later)

Shale: Dead in Origins

Sten: Not recruited in Origins, thus has no reason to be present.

Dog: Dead (non-Cousland origin)

Loghain: Dead in Origins

Oghren: Refused the Joining by an Orlesian Warden Commander in Awakening, or left party in Origins due to low approval.

Nathanial: Dead in Awakening

Velanna: Dead in Awakening

Sigrun: Not recruited in Awakening

Anders: Dead in Dragon Age 2

Justice: Unavailable after Ander's death.

Fenris: Not recruited in Dragon Age 2.

Bethany/Carver: Dead in Dragon Age 2

Sebastian: Not recruited in Dragon Age 2

Merrill: Dead in Dragon Age 2

Isabela: Not recruited in Dragon Age 2

Iron Bull: Not recruited in Inquisition

Cole: Not recruited in Inquisition

Sera: Not recruited in Inquisition

Dorian: Not recruited in Inquisition

Blackwall: Not recruited or dead in Inquisition

Vivienne: Not recruited in Inquisition

So...that leaves...?

Morrigan - who may be unavailable or not loyal to the Inquisitor.

Leliana - who may be the Divine if it is not Cassandra (Vivienne was not recruited, thus she is not Divine)

Cassandra - who may be the Divine if it is not Leliana (Vivienne was not recruited, thus she is not Divine)

Solas - likely unavailable for obvious reasons

Varric

Aveline - loyalties may be conflicted if Hawke is dead

And that narrows it down, without using unexpected survival of characters assumed dead, or unexpected loyalty to the Inquisitor, to:

The Inquisitor

Varric

Cassandra or Leliana (but not both)

Aveline

Morrigan

That's all we can guarantee, unless Solas is somehow available.

I know that's somewhat extreme, but it is nonetheless possible.

So the final game should end with a threat that threatens the Fade itself somehow. Meanwhile politics wise The Quanari cross into The Teviniter empire. At the same time the intelligent darkspawn under the Architect attempt to invade orzammar. The Teviniter are desperate and apparently kidnapping whole clans of Dalish elves for sacrifice. The Dalish start attacking the Teviniter too. Orlais allies with the elves. In the meantime Orzammar falls to the darkspawn. In an attempt to get revenge, the last of the dwarves bring orzammar down on the darkspawn and the Architect and all the intelligent darkspawn are killed. Teviniter near the end of the game is truly desperate. They sacrifice hundreds to summon the Two remaining elder ones in the Flesh, not as dragons but as humanoid gods. Only one shows itself though. He destroys the Quanari and destroys Par-Vollen. The elves are desperate now and they summon the surviving elven pantheon. Together they battle the old God. Solas sacrifices himself to kill the old god. The second old God however is then revealed. He is attempting to physically enter the black city for some reason. Fighting through Teviniter lines you follow him to his last know physical site. There you learn the Teviniter sacrificed themselves and there is no trace of any elves. The elves learn it was all a ploy by Orlais in hope of defeating the Teviniter. The Dalish March away from Teviniter ready for War against Orlais. Meanwhile the protagonist follows the Old God into the Fade using the Inquisitor's anchor. They reach the black city. There the old gid reveals that mages exist because of the black city's corruption, and as long as the city is corrupt he cannot be stopped. He will bring new balance by fusing the Fade and the real world. Every living being on the earth will forget all emotion and invention and every spirit will stay physical. The protagonist stops him and with the death of the last old God the black city turns gold. On return to the real world they realise magic cannot exist anymore. Elves are butchered in their war against Orlais they are close to extinct. Dwarves to suffer as Kal Sharok is hit by an earthquake. The remaining Teviniter quickly form alliances with dominant Orlais to wage war against the Quanari until they finally retreat for the first time and Par Vollen is retaken. The End

THEDAS IS FOR THE NORDS!
