As most who have finished the game, we are all hoping for a Solas DLC (Wolf Hunt?). I am among that crowd. I wanted to delve a bit deeper into my hopes for that DLC (if we get it), but I also want to talk about a possible hinted DLC from an interview Kotaku with Aaryn Flynn, Mike Laidlaw and Mark Darrah. Which you can read here:
http://kotaku.com/ko...uisi-1694123219
or watch a summary by Lady Ashe here:
To get to the topic at hand: There was a question as to whether there will be a DLC featuring darkspawn and going into the Deep Roads. Where Aaryn Flynn made the comment "Funny you should ask...". Possibly hinting at what a future DLC will be. Is anything concrete? Of course not, this is merely a tease and player theory at this point. And with the possibility of a Warden/Darkspawn DLC comes all "The Warden" fans to come screaming that they want them in Inquisition.
Now to start off...
Solas DLC (Wolf Hunt?)
My biggest hope, other than this being an actual DLC and not having to wait until the next game to get any kind of closure, is that it doesn't end up being like the Morrigan romance in DAO. Meaning: I don't want to have a little DLC to hunt him down and never see him again for 10 friggin' years. That was one (of many) reasons I never sought out to romance Morrigan, and if Solas' ends up being the same way, I'll be sorely disappointed.
I want to be able to confront him and find out exactly why he left. Especially for my romanced Lavellan's, they need closure.
I hope for these options at the very least:
1) Exile him
2) Allow him back into the Inquisition
3) Romance options: *Slap him* Allow him back into the Inquisition or Exile him (I just feel Lavellan would at least smack him for leaving, but that might just me)
After playing Jaws of Hakkon post-game I really missed having my elf mage in my party make-up (being forced to use Vivenne as my 2nd mage in the group when playing as a rogue really irked me). So I would like the option of getting him back.
Darkspawn/Deep Roads/Wardens DLC
Note: btw I will be using term "The Warden" instead of HoF because you have the possibility of killing the HoF in DAO, but continuing the story as the Warden Commander from Orlais assigned to Ferelden after the archdemon is killed. So I will use The Warden to signify them both.
There have been many people that would like a DLC where we help in the search for the cure of The Calling. And perhaps this would be a tie into that as well. I wouldn't be against that. Seems like a worthy goal, especially if the Inquisitor brings the Wardens into the fold instead of exiling them.
Now, that being said. I'm not a fan of the idea of going into the Deep Roads. I despised the Deep Roads in DAO, it ranked up there with the Fade during the Broken Circle quest line in most annoying area. And we didn't see a whole lot of it in DA2 for me to really care.
This next bit is what is probably going to get my lynched.
As much as I love my Warden (My Warden Amell is my baby), I would like to see an end to their story. Meaning: at the end of the DLC (or somewhere in there) The Warden ends up dying. I'm sorry, I have grown tired of the constant outcry (and that's putting it politely) to bring this character back into any installment after DAO, it's become ridiculous to say the least.
How I could see bringing in "The Warden" for this to where it could possibly appease the masses that The Warden didn't get an off screen death:
The Inquisitor is asked for assistance by the The Warden to help in a lead into finding a cure for the Calling and feels the Inquisitor is their best option for help. (So this probably would take place after you receive your letter from the HoF after Adamant, or this could replace that entirely)
When the Inquisitor goes to meet The Warden (perhaps outside of an entrance into the Deep Roads -- even if I don't like the Deeps idea, its the most logical) they are greeted by a younger Warden who has been accompanying The Warden in their search to give the Inquisitor a heads up of sorts into the condition of The Warden and why this younger Warden was needed.
It's known that the 30 year mark that Alistair gave in DAO about the Wardens going to their Calling was a big "oopsy" on Bioware's part. And that it's not a number set in stone, it can be sooner or even longer than that before a Warden can end up having their Calling. BUT proximity to darkspawn and going through a Blight can speed up the progress of the taint in the Warden causing their Callings to happen sooner. At a certain point a Warden will actually start changing into a darkspawn, known as Ghouls.
Being initiated into the Wardens during the Blight and fighting the army of darkspawn and/or the archdemon and all the baddies in Awakenings (The Architect, The Mother, all their henchmen and armies of darkspawn) has progressed the taint in The Warden to a point where her/his true Calling was approaching quickly. He/She no longer has the ability to speak due to the stage they are in, which is why The Warden needed the younger Warden by their side to be their voice of sorts. (This little fact could be the work around for the voice issue for The Warden. And you can either have them hooded the entire time, or give a character creation option like for Hawke and just make them look more diseased, like Felix).
I have no real story between the beginning to the end. But the end result:
They find yet another lead and The Warden will continue their search. But before leaving they are attacked by a massive force of darkspawn. During the fight The Warden is killed defending the Inquisitor, taking a coming killing blow for them. Once the battle is finished the younger Warden will continue The Warden's work (I'm also keen on the idea of this Warden being a Mage, perhaps one of the Amell siblings that the Amell Warden is supposed to have. Having a common Amell connection in the games was nice, and I missed it in DAI, so this would be a nice little nod.)
So yeah, those are my hopes. Just wanted to voice my 2 cents, as it were. ![]()
