Finished the game on normal, now wanting to up the difficulty. Really leaning to a SnS templar, with either Cassandra (Respecced to 2h) or Iron bull, Varric/Cole as an archer, and Vivienne as a team. Any help as far as builds or whatnot? Normal I just kinda ran through without much min/maxing but i know this will take much much more work.

Templar strength is tanking up front and supporting your party with buffs. They will clear/ and disable well generally most average enemies. They will need help against bigger enemies/ enemies with stun resistence though as though your templar on harder difficulties can put up a decent defence, they will need help in the damage department. Best to bring someone along to deal extra massive damage to single and problematic targets quickly, or immobilize them. An archer with full draw, mages with fire-mine, assassin with stealth set into "prefered" setting by the ai and "I was never here" passive for instance. Cass would be easier for the ai to handle as 2 hander than Iron Bull's reaver. Cole works as dw assassin with the specs I mentioned above. Viv is a safe choice for the mages, as she can be made unkillable, but she is better up front as for this for this and if you play with two warriors up front already (you and Cass) a ranged Rift or Necro could be more useful, and panic from horror / wall of flame effects would be better to allow you and your rogues to deal more damage through auto critical hits.

Most optimal party/builds in my opinion:

Blackwall as tank (full Champion spec)

Archer Rogue (can be your inquisitor or a companion. Pretty much any of the 3 specs work, but I personally like Tempest the most)

Support Mage (has dispel, resurrection, barrier, everything else is up to you. I prefer to use Solas and spec him like this).

Forth spot is really up to you. Can pick up another melee DPS (Two Handed Reaver Warrior or a DW Artificer/Assassin Rogue) or a DPS mage (Knight-Enchanter favored here, so Vivienne or your Inquisitor).

Hardest part of Nightmare is pre-Skyhold. Once you get to Skyhold, crafting gear will make things a LOT easier.

And finally, here's a video I made a while back, you may find it useful :)

Good luck!

I ran with this build for Nightmare and ... I had the most fun of my life. I never thought I'd ever like the warrior class until I ran with that spec.
