DA2 gets an insane amount of negative criticism, but I have never thought of this game as anything negative. The only downside is that maps were always repeated, and Orsino's situation was just effed.
But, I wanted to say that this game means more to me than anyone else can think of. It has helped me cope with so much through my life. I remember my late brother being excited over the trailers and he wanted to play this game. He thought Hawke was pure badass. Unfortunately, he passed away before DA2 ever came out.
Besides that, Hawke has become a person I truly admire. Hawke is not some god/hero/whatnot. Hawke is simply a person that was trying to get by, but, in between there were many obstacles such as the death of her family, friends betraying her, and getting dragged into situations Hawke did not originally want to truly get involved in (to me).
The companions made it feel much more real to me, too. They have become like one big family throughout the years of being in Kirkwall together.
I really don't know what else to say, but all I want to say is that this game has helped me through grief, loss, heartbreak, triumphs, happiness, and everything else.
Thank you, Bioware. Thank you for creating characters that I can relate to on a personal level and connect with. Hawke is someone I will always admire, because all Hawke wanted was to keep their family safe and things under control. Despite Hawke's efforts to keep things the way it should be, it all spiraled out of control. But Hawke never gave up. Hawke still tried to make things right.
I will always love this game no matter what.

In a certain way, DA2 is kinda like a "cult" title. It's not for everyone, but the ones who like it truly know how to appreciate it and see its unequivocal qualities.

After Inquisition, I felt the urge to play DA2 again. It contains a lot charm and personality that other games lack in my honest opinion.

Dragon Age 2 is still ok in my book. I did like several of the allies and I felt Hawke held his/her own against certain people and I did like how he/she remained strong when his/her mom died and I liked how you can have Hawke hate mages ever since or only just blame the one mage for his/her mom's death.
Combat is pretty simplistic and very arcadey which is nice and I did like how Hawke's personality builds as he/she comes in contact with people.
My issues where the game seemed to flow way to quick, romances didn't feel like romances but friendships, Hawke is human, and way to many maps get recycled or are revisited. Frankly if BIOWARE spent more than 2-3 years making this game this game would be played more often.
Also SmilesJA I did do the same myself. I ran two recent playthroughs of DA 2 after playing DAI twice and i did enjoy playing DA 2 again despite my above gripes.

DAII really is a good game. The reused environments are boring, but the story and plot is awesome; and dare I say I love all the characters, too?

I don't fully get the Orsino complaints.
When I played, he clearly was in correspondence with shifty people.
He was prepared to go nutso if he felt he needed so. Until then, he'll be more reasonable.
He felt he needed to go nutso at the end, so he did. The power of a mage pressed against the wall. Its just that we have to pay attention to the side information ... kinda like we're, as players, searching our for maleficarum ![]()
I know he was added to to have another boss, but it made enough sense to me. He's there to have good points, but also prove Meridith right, just as Meridith is there to have good points, but also prove Orsino right.
Hawke was a catalyst for so much disaster, but he was an unwitting and unwilling one, and it could be argued that his willful and witting actions were what salvages something out of the Disaster-In-Waiting Kirkwall (would have fallen without him, sooner or later). We'll probably see the effects of DA2 for every game onward, all due to Hawke's fierce independent spirit.
Still my least favorite DA game, but I definitely can't come to hate it as much as some people online.

I love playing DA2. I know technically, it's not as good; however, I loved the dialogue and IDC!
There are holes all over the plot structure, but honestly, I had so much fun playing it I didn't care. It never bit itself in that ass and I loved the NPCs.
