How I feel about my companions only affects how often I use them on the first playthrough. After that it's either about who is most effective (story missions) or whose banter I want to hear (exploring).
How do you feel about each party member? Does how you feel about them affect how often you use them?

Dorian - My Inquisitor's best friend, the guy's hilarious.
Iron Bull - Along with Dorian and Sera, never travel anywhere without the guy.
Blackwall - Honestly never gave the guy a chance. I've never taken him anywhere, and never really felt compelled to.
Cassandra - Took a while, but she grew on me. Finished with her in Divine, felt like she deserved it the most.
Varric - Ah, Varric. I love the guy, but I took him everywhere in DA2, so he mostly got benched in Inquisition.
Solas - Liked him at first, but his attitude really got on my nerves. Didn't miss him at all when he left.
Cole - Meh, creeps me out.
Vivienne - Absolutely cannot stand her. Almost as much as I can't stand Anders...

So the way I feel about party members really changes based on the character I'm playing as at the time, but here's how I feel about the party members on a whole:
Dorian--He's one of my favorite party members; I found him entertaining, and his views on magic tended to agree with my character's own views. He was almost always in my party since I recruited him. If I were to pick one thing about him that ticks me off, it would be his occasional hypocrisy. As much as he seems to disagree with stereotypical "vints", he fills the role pretty well sometimes, with the whole "owning slaves" thing. And his general arrogance. Did I mention that?
Iron Bull--Another favorite of mine. I'll admit that the main reason I like the guy is because he stands out from other Qunari. Besides that, I think he's pretty funny. Early on, he felt like the Alistair of Inquisition (y'know, the guy that dies in record timing no matter what constitution and armor has to say about it?), but at higher levels he proved to be a valuable member of my party, taking more of a glass cannon role.
Blackwall--Early on, I didn't really care for Blackwall. When I recruited him, I ignored him at first. After I started speaking to him, he started to get on my nerves with all of the rambling about duty and whatnot. But, after becoming bored with my usual party layout, I started bringing with me and talking to him more, and I actually started to like him... which brought on waves of deep remorse for being needlessly mean to him all those times before. Sorry, Blackwall. Anyway, he proved to be a necessity for my group; with Iron Bull dropping like a fly (or an Alistair) and everyone else being either a mage or a rogue (myself included), I needed at least one resilient party member. Blackwall seems downright invincible with the right build. It's quite remarkable.
Solas--The funny thing with Solas is that he's like the opposite of Blackwall in terms of my experience with him. I instantly liked him because "Oh, apostate elf whose proud of his race? He'll get along great with my Dalish Inquisitor!". Assumption are your enemy. At first, I liked him well enough, but then I slowly began to realize that he wasn't proud of his people as much as he was proud of their history and the particular elves who made it. Current elves? Nope. Apparently, they're not elfy enough for him. I love the way Freedheart put it some months ago; elfier than though. It gets on my friggin nerves, and by mid-game I felt no obligation to have him tag along much (unless I felt I needed two mages for a particular task).
Cassandra--After watching that Seeker movie, I kind of came into the game hating Cassandra. I was really surprised to find that she's kind of likeable... But not likeable enough to replace Bull or Blackwall on my group. I swear, she went through more than half of the game wearing the armor she started with.
Varric--I like Varric. Who doesn't like Varric? I certainly don't bring him on quests much, as my Inquisitor's a rogue, and two rogues is just... weird. But, yeah. Varric's cool.
Cole--Who's Cole?
Alright, so that's just a lame joke. On a more serious note, I really don't know anything about Cole, and frankly I don't care to. I don't know why; the whole ghost thing is cool, but... Eh. He's just a little too weird; it's hard to take him seriously, or relate to him, or get to know him, or want to befriend him.
Vivienne--Hate this chick with a passion. She's... ugh. Where to start? First off, the air of unapologetic arrogance around her is thick enough to cut with a knife. And we're not talking funny Dorian arrogance, no, we're talking "ancient Tevinter blood mage" levels of arrogance. Furthermore, her strongly pro-Circle views irritate me, not just because the Circles are gilded cages to anyone with eyes, but because it's real easy for her to sing the praises of the Circle; she ended in one of the best.
So... That's it. I don't think I missed anyone...

What about Sera, I know since she is a rouge you probably wouldn't use her but who can forget her lol.

Solas - I originally didn't want to romance him because well he's an egg head. But I find his character very interesting...even before the end. So next play through was Solasmance.
Blackwall - I don't get the hate on Blackwall. I love his and Sera's banter. He's sweet and seems to just love the inquisitor, very loyal (even if not romanced). After his personal quest I still liked him.
Varric - Varric is a bro. I do like him for humor value, but I rarely use him.
Cole - I love Cole's innocence. Again, I don't get the hate on Cole. I find his whole character to be unique and interesting. His conversations are always a bit cryptic though. In all but my dual dagger rogue play throughs Ive used Cole. I will still probably use him a bit with my dual dag rogue.
Sera - I find her hilarious. I love her personality. The only thing that really peeves me off is the whole temple of mythal thing that if you're a dalish and agree with the temple she basically hates you. I like using Sera for her banter.
Iron Bull - I don't use him much because he seems to just die super quick. But I do like the Bull, he's funny and a huge perv.
Vivienne - I don't really like her. She's stuck up. And even if she's not entirely selfish and does help the inquisition, she's still a complete arse to everyone else in the party, especially Blackwall!
Cassandra - she's always my bff in the playthroughs. I alternate between using her or blackwall as my tanks.
Dorian - Love Dorian! He has so much sass it's unreal. I loved my male play through romancing him.
Generally it depends who I'm romancing and my own class to who I use in my party. If I romance a party member then they'll always be in my group. So far I've done Dorian, Solas, currently Blackwall. If i'm romancing Cullen I generally bring Blackwall to warden related things, Cass sometimes when I know it's not going to be too challenging, Sera or Cole (usually Cole), Dorian or Solas. Sometimes both mages, both sera and cole etc. Rarely use Varric, Viv or Iron Bull.

Completely forgot Sera... Oops.
Hate her. lol
No, really; I don't like her. At all. First of all, I needed to turn subtitles on, just for her. Secondly, in all of my Dragon Age playthroughs (even in DAII), I've been very pro-elf (at least for one char per game). I've encountered elves that don't exactly share my attitude, but sometimes Sera seems downright anti-elf. Pfft. Flat-ear.
She never agreed with any of my choices because my Inquisitor was more of a "destroy all opposition" type and she was more of a "woohoo everything's a joke" type. She reminded of Morrigan in one sense; as soon as you make a decision she disagrees with, she throws a temper-tantrum and her approval drops like an anchor. I'll admit she was funny sometimes, but she was mostly just annoying. So yeah. Hate her.

Varric: He came with me all the time, and he and my Inquisitor were pretty close. Took with me 8/10 times.
Sera: I actually didn't recruit her...from some of the walkthroughs I saw, I didn't think she'd be a good fit. Will probably recruit her next time around.
Cole: Appreciated his help in the Fade, and I let him stay, but I didn't end up using him at all.
Iron Bull: Really liked him, he and my Inquisitor got along fairly well but I don't think he got emotionally close to my Inquisitor. I took him out whenever I didn't have Cassandra with me. Took with me 3/10 times.
Cassandra: Hated her from DA:2 so I didn't think we would end up getting along at all, but I ended up absolutely adoring her by the end of it. Took her out with me maybe 7/10 times.
Blackwall: Liked Blackwall quite a bit until
Dorian: Loved Dorian, he and my Inquisitor were close. Took with me 9/10 times.
Vivienne: Didn't like her, but recruited her. My opinion didn't change about her throughout, so she barely ever came out with me.
Solas: Rubbed me the wrong way more than any other character (which is weird cause my Inquisitor was an Elf too). Took him out in the beginning when I did have other mage options, never took him out again after I recruited Dorian.
