If you're playing the FS/FC offensively, you won't be doing barrier on the back-line anyway.

It can, because its limiting and without substance. I enjoy the most, but without reasons, implies he's not tried cooler and more fun ones, or is narrow in view & imagination about the builds he use. The reasoning, if purely subjective, is pretty useless. A rock can enjoy mud the most, because the rock has nothing but mud, can't imagine anything better, or is emotionally invested in defending mud.

I enjoy about half a dozen (or more) keeper builds the most, for many many reasons (mainly ending in because ______ is awesome).

Wow okay didn’t expect this kind of response.

At the present time, I play my Keeper Aggressively.  I am not trying to “Omgwtfdps Top o’ the leaderboardz!” But I like to pitch in with my abilities.  I use Fade Step for either a little extra bit of damage or to maneuver myself into position to Barrier someone, be it melee or ranged.  Generally, I’ll Barrier myself and anyone near me at the start, use my abilities, then Fade Step towards someone I feel is going to need Barrier when my cooldown is up.  Using this method I have managed to clear almost all Threatening runs and most of my Perilous runs, though I have failed spectacularly at times.  Of course sometimes I’ll change what I use depending on circumstances.

I have tried other builds and there are a good number of great ones. I agree with that.

I like Disruption Field, freezing mobs and treasure room guardians is fun, but too many times team members hang in front of the bubble after it has grabbed like ten arrows.  Even after I warn them in voice chat not to be near or in the bubble when it expires they still would and die.

Static Cage was part of my staple for the longest time and I will most likely return to it at some point (Hell there’s a video I have of me using it DURING Perilous.).  I really don’t have anything bad to say about it.  It’s an awesome ability, if we had five slots instead of four, I would have a build I’d never change I don’t think.  I just prefer the build I have atm, I feel more engaged.

Dispel was decent for me, I would use it for the Demon Commander’s panic thing and on mobs with barriers to get that little barrier boost for me.  But ultimately I wanted some crowd control or something a little more offensive for the ability slot.

Mind Blast I have only tried once since they fixed the upgrade to let it give you a chunk of Barrier.  It shows promise and I’ll probably have to experiment with it more at some point.  Heard it wouldn’t work if you got downed though, which still makes me wary to take it.

Energy Barrage was pretty fun, hitting things with that nightmare combo was satisfying.  A minor complaint for the bolts sometimes getting stuck on walls and junk, but otherwise I enjoyed it.

Lightning Bolt I was warned away from when I was new and a more experienced Keeper told me not to take it.  So to this day have never tried it.

Veilstrike I wish had a shorter cooldown, hitting it after Chain Lightning and putting a group of mobs to sleep was great, especially liked doing that to the Templar Commander.  The long cooldown kind of put me off to it though.  With a cooldown that long I would rather use Static Cage in its place.

There are other builds I can try out, I’m well aware of that.  I’m also aware of how strong Static Cage is.  I remember I was running Perilous with a group of friends and I finally decided to try out the Barrier/CL/FS/FC build in there.  We were chatting in voice chat and I decided to bring it up.

“Hey guys sorry, I’m not running Static Cage right now.  Trying out a different build.”

“Whatever man that’s fine, we’re still killing stuff pretty fast.  Even if we die we’ll get a bunch of xp.”

Of course one of my other friends chimed in with, “Just keep being on the spot with those Barriers and it’s all good!”

So in the end, running with my friends.  I may not have Static Cage, but I’m still having fun, my friends are still having fun, and we are still clearing the hardest difficulty in the game at this time.  Is it not the most effective build?  Probably, but so what?  We are entertained and that’s all that matters.

I’m just surprised at your reaction to Keepers with no Static Cage Drasca.  I feel booting them is a bit harsh, but if you’re hosting you can do what you want.

Dead Legos don't tank and dead Archers do 0 FPS.

Your game freeze when your Archer dies?

SC has a longer cd than cl , which is more spammable. You also have the animation time like with planting a firestorm and misplacement or stairs can ruin your plans. So cl is more forgiving for newer people.

I would prefer if it pulled the whole room like cl lol

When pugging, fs is undeniably useful for evading especially if you're pugging wave 5 . You're talking about it in a tight knit group where everything goes well and things go your way. I'm talking about when ...

Or if you just used your fc while rezing someone cuz your barrier wore out from damage and it's still on cd because no one wanted to stick together and now the dc is about to pop up. Fs :)

2-4 seconds!! That's slow man!! You need more promotions!! Kill speed to 1s nao! Jk :P

2-4 seconds is like, soooo long! Obviously need moar! Working on that. I count the time between seeing the target and traveling to between engaging-killing.

My stance on Pugs is they communicate or leave. Would you rather play with a tight knit group of your own creation, or pugs that don't listen? uh-huh. Thought so. Private games with good people doesn't happen magically. You have to actually make the effort to do socialize and coordinate. That also means booting the crappy players and those that don't coordinate at all. I don't mind if they don't have a mic, they can still communicate using F4 the 'come here' yell (or other ones). One for yes, two for no.

SC is MUCH better with the ring, gaining something like 80% uptime for a persistent action vs CL's very minimal uptime. It also works for the whole team. As for animation time, static charge is part of my builds now a days, and I LIKE the long animation cast because enemies get paralyzed as I cast spells.

I pull whole rooms and do stairs just fine. L2P camera management & spell placement.

Same with FC. I control the battlefield when I'm on a Keeper. Why would I worry about rezzing someone? Either I can do it safely, (behind cover, while MS barrier runs out and freezes my enemy, behind a disruption field, etc) or they can wait. There's plenty of time, or they can fade out while we do something more important.

FS has off-host rubberbanding issues. off-host sucks. I can clearly deny the usefulness of FS because of its pitfalls, and the fact I won't be bringing something more useful or reliable.

If someone will not coordinate, they will be booted. If they cannot bring a key skill of a class, they need to bring another class. I've booted others for not bringing firewall before, or bringing a poison farming kit into perilous (and they're not doing so explicitly to be carried). I'm willing to carry, but they need to coordinate and follow suit. That includes how they play too.

If someone's new and bad at assassin they absolutely need to be stealthed more and avoid the pitfalls of trying to play assassin like a warrior. Go stealth in a corner on the other side of the map and pick out the occasion spawning horror/red knight/marksman and don't get trolled by the bosses & other stuff that comes toward the flag.

Make the assassin with no aggro at all do the rezzing, and have others crawl away from enemies into cover-- because this works the best.

Wow okay didn’t expect this kind of response.

Yeah I don't care about team scoreboard as a keeper either. You shouldn't care about DPS at all as a keeper. I pitch in by controlling the battlefield completely, and sometimes deciding who gets to live and die.

If you ever saw me playing keeper, you'd see me going ahead of even FS'ers running past trash mobs and engaging everything more important, and bringing them to a chokepoint.

I don't use FS anymore because there's better skill combos out there. FS is for noobs that don't know or are too lazy to do better. It works but... it isn't fantastic.

Barrier --> Travel --> Fadecloak --> Barrier ends / MS proc AoE Freeze --> FC Blast --> MS zero cost DF or Static Cage --> Barrier. Everything after travel is performed within the first 5 seconds of engagement. So they're frozen, knocked down, taken AoE Spirit Damage, and a major AoE CC has been cast.

I have managed to clear almost all Threatening runs and most of my Perilous runs though I have failed spectacularly at times

I stopped playing Threatening a while ago. I don't clear all my Perilous runs either, because I like to play dangerously and try to duo Perilous with another assassin. Lol.

Trolling your teammates is half the fun. When I care to clear those arrows, I pop a fresh barrier, and walk into them myself. Otherwise, DF level 1 (not SL, upgraded), with ring lasts 13 seconds and animation freezes enemies as opposed to upgraded SL that lasts 5 seconds without the ring. That's almost 3x the value on duration alone, which is worth a lot more in practice.

Yes, I use both SC and DF rings.

Try both. SC->VS-> AoE Sleep

Pre-winter's stillness nerf, I would recommend simply using WS for the CD reduction, but now you'll have to use GS instead (and clean burn, but that barely helps). Oddly WS cd still works on elementalist but not keeper. Oy. Stupid stealth nerfs.
