The books used by enemies hav dozens of weak spirits imprisoned within allowing weaker mages to cast several powerful spells at once. Its not really aweapon so much as a buff.
Chakrams are not boomerings they ar bladed frisbees.
The only new weapon I could accept would be a scepter. Think shotgun to the staff's rifle.

Gandalf style for sure when it comes to up close and personal but the gauntlets sound interesting(but not like Diablo3)

Anything can be enchanted to come back ;P
As for spellbooks, well, you could always have custom-made one that are different, maybe with spells written in Lyrium that you can activate.
