Bringing back a "voiced" Hero of Ferelden NPC: Yes, or No?

In the last Kotaku interview, Mike Laidlaw stated he has reservations about bringing back the Hero of Ferelden as a voiced character, even though he understands many of us will be disappointed to hear this.
He was kind enough to even respond to a tweet of mine regarding this, and made it very clear it's something he doesn't "wish to pursue".... which of course, made me sad (I'm dying to see the Warden return), but I appreciated his candor.

What does everyone think about bringing the Warden/Hero of Ferelden back as a voiced NPC character? Good idea, bad idea? And if you want to see this happen, how can we ever hope to convince him/ Bioware to do this? Because, at this point, it looks like it's going to take a miracle.... :/

Yes, 100% Yes. I dont expect him to be a perfect representation of my imagination, just give him a talented voice actor or actors. I want my Warden/Morrigan reunion.

Yes. And we can give the Warden DA:I Hawke with W2 Letho treatment.

Ambivalent. But even if this portion of the fan base unites and says yes, undoubtedly another part of the fan base will heap on the criticism.

Honestly? It would take some getting used to, but I reckon if they gave a couple of different voices w/ different accents for each gender it could work. Would be a fair bit of work, mind. I'd be able to deal with it. Even if it isn't what I envisioned for her, people have changed VAs all the time in this series and I've suspended disbelief so far. I could do it for her.

It's likely not happening though, so the whole thought is for naught regardless. I'm a bit upset the Warden is likely never going to get anything again, especially seeing as I'm not too fond of the vague quest they left them in this game and probably aren't going to give a decent conclusion to now...but it's not like BioWare's ambivalence is unreasonable. I'd be scared of screwing up too.

With what they've said about it all now, I'd rather they just leave my Warden, and the people important to her, out of it, if they're not bringing her back. Give em a bit of peace I guess and let these characters be. Leliana, Alistair, so on.

I would totally love if the warden was a customizable antagonist. I mean, I probably won't get the chance to play the next Dragon Age game, but hey, I can dream.

Yes.

But if the Warden were to return in a cameo, he/she should get a character creator option just like we got with Hawke. The only difference is that I think a returning Warden should also get a choice between two voice actors per gender, similar to the Inquisitor. I think the two accents (one British and one American per gender) would cover all the potential origins, and since the Warden had no voiced dialogue in DA:O outside of combat shots and the like, the voice not matching the one from DA:O would be a non-issue.

Or just use the voice actors who did the battle shouts?

I wouldn't mind it at all. Maybe in rolling the Warden like the Hawke via CC, pick voice, and picking defined personalities to simulate the Warden somewhat. Throw the Warden in a DLC involving Darkspawn/Calling/Deep Roads as an NPC.

Wrap the Warden's story up nicely, and boom. Of course, too many hardcore fans will hate that the Warden isn't exactly what they wanted to be, HoF might be dead in some world states, and it may "wreck" people's memories as one Dev. said.

The fact that mostly hardcore fans would be buying the DLC for the Warden and most have voiced disagreement even before it hit the drawing board leaves the Bioware team in an unfavorable position to develop the scenario. Hypothetically speaking, if everyone was Gung ho about it, I am sure they would at one point or another release it.

As of now, not so much. But to your question, only way is if the masses say they want it and support Bioware's endeavor. I'm game.

Might be a problem, one of the male Warden ones is dead.  :(

I'd like it. The inquisitor had two voice actors per gender, so if they wanted to pursue this seriously, I don't see a reason why there couldn't be a couple of choices per gender for the Hero of Ferelden as well if they were to appear in DLC or otherwise. Obviously it couldn't match the voice each fan has in their heads exactly, but that's a small price to pay, and I don't see how it's much different to how we have to choose from a set set of voices for the inquisitor now.

Bringing back the Warden is a bad idea, voice or not.

I think it depends on the plot. I wouldn't want the Warden shoehorned in just to make a cameo. But if the plot is something that is of major concern to the Wardens? I don't know...that might be something that should require the HoF making an appearance.

A lot of people are not going to be pleased because DAO was 100% role play, MEANING, our warden sounded a certain way in our heads, not what the devs wanted him to sound like

So there you have it

I rather they don't mess with it. Most people, if not all of them, involved with the masterpiece DAO left Bioware so I'm quite sure the team now won't have the "right touch" (or won't care enough) to do other people's work justice

I wouldn't mind at all and would in fact prefer them voiced. But I don't actually want the warden back nor do the devs seem to have any interest in bringing them back. ^_^

Voiced or not, I vote no regardless. This isn't ME and I have no interest in interacting with one of my previous player characters, especially as a 3rd person. I would have been fine without my Hawkes as well.

I would be okay with a voiced Warden, but I completely understand why BioWare is wary of doing it. Too much room for complaints that could overshadow all the other efforts they may have gone through to produce worthy content. E.g. "Story is good, lots of interesting content, but ZOMG THE WARDEN SUCKS! Nothing like I imagined so I can't even play. Boycott everything!"

With that said, I am also perfectly okay with never seeing my Warden in another DA game ever again. If it happens, great. If not, great too.

What about a warden antagonist that makes players agonize over serious philosophical differences?

Bringing him back will cause a massive rift on this place.

"My warden wouldn't say that/do that" complaints will be all over this place. Besides, the Warden deserves to rest, he/she has done enough already.

Btw, a lot of players didn't like the Dalish Warden writing the word "shem" in his or her letter for the Inquisitor.

Okay...

But what if they were so morally grey that 98% of players were swayed by their reasoning leading to the first Dragon Age game where the villain is intended to win?

If they wish to try that, sure. Just not as the Warden completely arbitrarily. :S
