What does everyone think about bringing the Warden back as a voiced character? Good idea, bad idea? And if you want to see this happen, how can we ever hope to convince him/ Bioware to do this? Because, at this point, it looks like it's going to take a miracle.... :/

No.  And it has nothing to do with being voiced or not.

My Wardens' stories are over.  Both the dead and the living ones.

100% No. I loved my Wardens - all of them - but I'm very happy with their story being done. And that's without even touching on the fact that I'd need about 6 voice options for each gender for me to even get close to making them fit my head cannon.

How is finding a cure for the calling not being at the forefront of a history making event? when the calling itself is as old as the Warden order. You can't say the Warden rode of in the sunset when they are on one of the biggest quest in thedas history.

When I said that I mostly meant that he doesn't need to be the main hero in Thedas again.  He'd still be making history I suppose, but not in the same way as he did when he stopped the blight and not in the same way that the Inquisitor does by stopping Corypheus.  People are usually remembered more for actions during a crisis than they are for scientific breakthroughs.

Perhaps it was poor word choice.  What I meant is that I think that being instrumental in one heroic adventure is enough.  Tying a single hero to every big event always just ends up making the setting feel small and unrealistic to me, so I'd like for the warden to stay in the background now that his moment in the sun has been completed.

It's not really the same thing though. It could just be like making a game about the polio vaccine. Sure, it's history, but it ain't exactly game material.

Also, since people don't know how the Joining occurs, I would assume that the commonfolk don't know much about the Calling.

A note found in the Western Approach even states that if the Chantry knew how the Wardens became Wardens, it is likely that they would disapprove.

Yeah, the Joining and the Calling are both secrets.  Not!Blackwall doesn't seem to know why he was sent to gather darkspawn blood and Duncan doesn't tell you about it until the chalice is in front of you.

Chantry would not approve of Joining because of two reasons:

1) Joining ritual is some kind of a blood magic ritual. What Warden Recruits drink = Archdemon Blood + Darkspawn Blood + Lyrium

2) Because the Chantry is full of fools.

Grey Wardens do the Maker's work much better than the Chantry, Seekers or Templars did in their entire existence. Maker himself banished Old Gods from heavens and imprisoned underground. Old Gods are referred to as "Dragons with wicked eyes and wicked hearts" and we know that an Archdemon is a corrupted Old God. Grey Wardens sacrifice themselves to kill them. So basically, Grey Wardens = Those who stand before the corrupt and wicked and do not falter. Dagna refers to the Hero of Ferelden as "only light in those dark times". That is what Grey Wardens are, lights in shadows. They drink the blood of darkspawn and Archdemon to fight them. They are also peacekeepers : "In Peace, Vigilance". There is Maker's will written in their bloods, proof of their sacrifice. Grey Wardens sacrifice themselves while fighting the corrupt and the wicked while the Chantry, with all their self-righteousness, judges everyhing and everyone that doesn't fit their description of Andrastian.

Blessed are they who stand before
The corrupt and the wicked and do not falter.
Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just.

Blessed are the righteous, the lights in the shadow.

In their blood the Maker's will is written

these verses fit Grey Wardens much better than Chantry/Seekers/Templars. There are great secrets about Grey Wardens and I'm sure the next game will focus on Grey Wardens, Blight and Mythal's relation with Blight. That is why I want an experienced Grey Warden (like Warden Commander of Amaranthine from Awakening) as PC for the next game, who at least saw Architect, learned that the Architect has started the Fifth Blight in a failed attempt for making Old God Urthemiel his disciple. That would help the story greatly.

I love my Wardens and I would love them to be brought back all I want is the ability to have my King-Consort Cousland reunite with Anora, find the cure for the Calling for himself and Loghain then they all return to Ferelden as one happy family.

Thats all I want proper closure for a great character.

I'm in the "no" group.  I've moved on from the HoF.  I don't mind them showing back up through dialogue and letters, but I don't need to see them and certainly don't need to talk to them.  I was actually super annoyed that they brought Hawke back too.  I don't need 'closure' on my PCs.  I like the idea of leaving a few loose ends.

BioWare brought back the player character from Knights of the Old Republic with a face and voice, and it didn't bother me.

As for the warden, I wouldn't mind a cameo where he/she is wearing a hat and doesn't speak.

Why not no voice? If they are that worried about it, it wouldn't be too hard to pull off a cameo with a non-speaking Warden.

You could even throw in the joke that "S/he doesn't talk much."

Simple, short, easy. Everyone's happy.

That said, I wouldn't mind a voice either.

Haha, it would be hilarious if the HoF just glared at the protagonist angrily, and their LI did all the speaking.

No. I feel what made my Warden special was her lack of voice. It made it feel like I was speaking for her (and I was). I grew up with silent protagonists in games, and it's done to make you feel you ARE that person. Giving the Warden a voice would take away that special connection. Just reading the letter from her felt odd, like her voice was no longer mine. Hawke being Hawke was fine, and having the same actors reprise was wonderful, but also with the many different voice choices for your Warden in DAO during actions/fights, it would be odd if it all came from one voice and would take away what made each Warden unique.

Either bring them back or kill them off. They've been teasing him for two games now.

Just get Billy Connolly to voice the warden. Problem solved.

I loved my warden and wouldn't mind if bioware brought them back with a voice of their choice, but I understand it would upset a lot of people, disrupt their immersion, ruin the character for them and so on and so forth.

so I think it's best that bioware don't even bother risking annoying their fanbase (hell, in the latest facebook votes people there voted for the warden as their favourite protagonist to lead a party of their favourite characters) - especially when you think about the quarian face reveal in mass effect 3 which absolutely nobody saw coming.

I would like the warden to have a voice but if they cant there is other ways to have the warden in the game.

Like being unconscious or in jail

I would like Lelianna to be happy with her warden

No, not because I think the Warden's story is over (I don't. They are looking for a cure for The Calling, that's something notable.) but because I want it played off as a joke:

Everytime the Warden attempts to say anything someone or someTHING interrupts them in a serious or comedic manner.

This way the Warden's role can be minimized in a future game, preserve their silent nature, and have some fun all at the same time.

I agree. I think it's best to leave it be.

I have a feeling we shall see Hawke every so often...but otherwise it's going to be different each time.
