The Warden should absolutely return. Voiced or not. I don't care. To me she/he is THE signature character of the Dragon Age franchise.

Steppenwolf:

People change their mind often about things they were previously sure about. How many ideas the devs must have discarded only to consider using them in the end?

He's a customer, and like many others, he's advocating in favor of something he considers valid without being disrespectful.

And he's doing it here, the online space created by Bioware where the players are meant to express themselves. He would be inconvenient if he went all the way to harass Laidlaw on twitter. And there ARE players who harass VAs and devs in other media.

You disagree with his idea? Fine. But don't try to demoralise him. Respect his opinion when voicing yours.

Nothing more needs to be said.

It's been three games, people. The Warden's story is done, and the story is probably moving out of South Thedas to greener pastures. Time to let go. Or just replay Origins.

It would stop requests to bring the character back in their tracks. Of course, some might request a retcon, but no one listens to those people.

In addition it would be one less excuse for the voiced/voiceless arguments to crop up again

Maybe part of the cause of rehash (of this and other topics) is the arrival of new fans to the forums. As someone who picked up a Dragon Age game for the first time about year ago, I speak from the recent experience of a BSN novice.  :) The fan base is growing.

Is there a thread containing frequently discussed topics, and is it up to date? Drinkquisition has a few of these on page 1, but HoF isn't listed.  :D

I haven't stumbled upon this particular sentiment yet. I apologize if I've uttered another line from the chorus.

I hope they make some kind of schlocky Citadel-esque DLC with the Warden, voiced by Don Johnson(no matter the gender or race), taking on a ring of red lyrium-smuggling Darkspawn with his sidekick, Tubbs, voiced by Philip Michael Thomas. They would obviously have a magic-powered speedboat and big-breasted love interests. The big climax would be another of the Darkspawn Magisters, voiced by Edward James Olmos, showing up and unceremoniously killing the Warden.

Do I want the Warden to appear again, voiced? Oh yeah, definitely. I've written a lot about it, so I'll just leave my vote. :)

...that's the opposite of accepting his decision. If you accepted his decision you would drop it, not continue.

Sorry, typo: I meant to say "respect his decision"

My warden made the ultimate sacrifice, their story is over.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that keeps finding it weird how every game people keep asking for the warden.

Kudos to all that allows him to live on for another 10 years, but don't forget that in some world states the warden is dead.

Sure, but you can't reject someone's decision while claiming you've accepted it."Honey, this marriage is not working. We need a divorce."
"OK, I accept your decision. But I will never give you a divorce. Not ever."

It doesn't make any sense.

...

I meant I have no choice but to "respect" his opinion. It was a typo, thanks for pointing it out.

ModernAcademic, thanks for the comment, but don't worry, I don't think Steppenwolf was attempting to demoralize me. And it's going to be next to impossible to discourage me. ;)
But thank you for the honorable defense. The miscommunication happened bc I made a typo and said I "accept" Laidlaw's decision, rather than saying I "respect", which is what I meant to say. But SOMEHOW the auto-correct on my iPad got in the way. Seriously, one day auto-correct is going t o cause a war..... Lol

MarcoNeves: No problem, mate. Always a pleasure to be of assistance. ^_^ I hope you continue to engage with other members here on the Forum and keep bringing your ideas for discussion. Many people were expecting the HoF to appear in a future game and were equally frustrated, for instance. It was good that someone brought up the subject.

If anyone gives you a hard time, PM the admins. They'll help you out.

How are you still operating under this misconception of what I wrote? Go back and actually read my posts.

Off-topic, but did you write Nightmares of Red Stone? I saw the link below that said Samson Fanfic yesterday, and I started reading it, and it's great. You're a very good writer! Congrats!

As long as the Hero doesn't come back as the rude personality that tells the player, "Can I get you a ladder... etc" if that wasn't directed at the player it might've been funny...

I'd rather they make another awakening style expansion for Origins than bringing back the warden in the future franchise. I mean I'm not at all attached to Hawke, but even I feel sorry for the fans on their appearance in DAI. I wouldn't want my warden butchered that way voiced or not.

I say yes Bioware should bring back the HoF / Orlesion Warden Commander in an upcoming installment. I agree that The Warden's quest to combat the calling, the remaining old gods, and the internal strife within the Grey Wardens is all a more interesting story than what's currently going on in Inquisition. With that being said i'd prefer that the HoF isn't simply shoehorned into any game to please us fans. If Bioware does bring them back, it should be at a time / place or in a game where it only makes sense that the HoF is present. Kinda like a huge end of the world scenario with their love interest / love interest and son present and in harms way >_>...

It would also be awesome if his/her return had an outcome aside from simply death. While i'm all for going out in a blaze of glory it should be a true choice instead of something like the Hawke / Stroud moment in the fade... or SWTOR's Revan. Obviously going out in a blaze of glory should be an option, or making them First Warden, or Teyrn of Highever if he / she is a Cousland. Or park their ass on the throne of Ferelden for good, ect. Sticking them in a position of power can be the equivalent of "riding off into the sunset".

Also, it must be said that given the reputation of the HoF their appearance should be epic to the point of absurdity. Kinda like these videos lol.

I see a bunch of posts where people speculate how the Warden should/could return and 99% of them aren't possible.

Cause, you know. Not everyone's Warden is a King-Consort.

Or a Queen-Consort.

Or has a son.

Or shagged Morrigan. Lesbian space majik with Morrigan isn't allowed.

Or even have an LI. Yes some people didn't romance anyone.

Or would do anything heroic after finding a cure.

Or they're just.... you know. Dead.

Or <insert "MY WARDEN WOULDN'T DO THAT!"> argument/thread subjects that would pop up if the HoF returned.

Also, telling people who don't want the HoF to return to just "not play the DLC/game" is the stupidest argument ever, because for the sake of equality Bioware HAS to make the return of the HoF non-canon which makes the whole point of the DLC/game useless.

The Warden can come back as possessed, as an abomination, as blighted/corrupted (à la Hespith or whatever), as a spirit because dead, etc. That would take care of the voice aspect. :P

The Warden may or may not come back, I am not certain of that but if the Warden comes back that game/DLC will sell a lot, I am certain of that. The Warden is by far the most popular Protagonist of Dragon Age franchise. Bringing back the Warden is a golden opportunity for Bioware. See the link below, The Ultimate Party FB post of Dragon Age. Top 5 comment is about the Warden and more than half of the rest of the comments are still about the Warden. The profit would make them forget the amount they'd pay for voice actors, that is certain. Although, if the Warden will come back, I'd prefer him/her to come back as a Playable Character. I'd still want to see the Warden whether he/she is playable or not but still bringing him/her as PC would be much better in my opinion.

Thanks to The Keep, new players (who would play with a Default World State) could play as the new Orlesian Warden Commander while those who played previous games could use their own World State and play as the Warden. And so everyone wins. Bioware wins, old players win, new players win.
