We should be able to ally with Corypheus.

Y'know, for a company that's oh so praised and sells its games on the idea of choice based narrative, there is a startling lack of choice in terms of story progression.

Why can't we ally with Corypheus? Why can't we accept that he is right, and the throne is empty? Why can't we let him fill it? Why can't we agree with his goal of change?

Why are we forced to faff about with these Andrastian nitwits instead of helping Corypheus lead his demon army and takeover? Wouldn't that be a more interesting and unique story to tell? The rise of a god to power? Getting to know Corypheus' past, his perspective, his motivations... That would be a much better and interesting story!

No, it wouldn't, considering he wants to kill you. He makes this abundantly clear.

Then we should be able to give our life to him. Y'know, a choice? That thing Bioware sells itself on? Why don't we have that choice, ESPECIALLY if we resist being the Inquisitor? A way to spite Cassandra and Leliana.

I do not think that would go over that well considering Corypheus has made it pretty clear what he thinks of you and would probably try to snatch that power from you as he did and when it failed, kill you because you are threat no matter your allegiance. By that line of thinking we should be able to try and ally with Loghain or say "screw this warden and ferelden business, I got my cure" in Origins.

And why shouldn't we? Why do you hate choice?

Respectfully, OP, that makes about as much sense as being able to side with Sovereign in ME1.

Cue somebody saying they should be able to side with Sovereign in ME1...

If you love corny so much , ask them for a DLC and the ability to romance him

But if you want a choice , then ask for the option to screw him over and fill the chair yourself . There is no way I'm playing a Game where I get the choice to be that Lamo lackey in any form or shape .

I like choices.

(just not game-breaking dumb choices, and yes this is a 1st April post isn't it...  ;) )

And experience an immediate Game Over?

I assume this is either a poor April Fool's joke or you're trolling :P

Not so much the choice to ally with him as being able to turn the inquisition into an evil force that is lacking, the game is almost completely void of options to become the bad guy by the end and be evil and ruthless.

An analogy to an older bioware game here is how in kotor we were able to betray all our allies at the end of the game and assume the mantle of the dark lord again.

I'll take that cue. Why couldn't we be the new Saren? Why couldn't we have accepted his solution, gone his way? What's with all the goddamn railroading in these choice driven narratives!?

That's fine, too! Taking a cue from New Vegas, I like it!

I don't see what's so game breakingly dumb. Big game changer yes, but certainly not breaking the game. Just a new thread.

And... Yes, I suppose this is an April 1st post, considering its April the first and I'm posting on that day.

And experience an immediate Game Over?

I'm being serious, you however aren't in asking for a game over. Why would you want that? Wouldn't you want another story thread, or at the very least an epilogue?

Now you mention it, why isn't there a choice to randomly commit suicide at any point during the events of the game. A choice which immediately ends your game wherever and whenever you choose. C'mon Bioware, we want CHOICES!

*obvious sarcasm is obvious*

I'm pretty sure this isn't serious but regardless I would point out that somebody actually asked that question before Inquisition came out. Laidlaw said in one of the streams I believe that they already had quite a bit of plot in place so trying to create a whole different sub-plot where you ally with the bad guy would take up too many resources (at least something along those lines).

I'm being serious.

ok, good luck with that.

  • In Grand Theft Auto I want to play without having to drive or steal anything.
  • In the Witcher I'd rather not play as Geralt of Rivia.
  • In Tomb Raider I want to become an Accountant instead.

In Dragon Age you can be an ass but you are still there to save the world.

The closest BioWare have been to this was the Darkspawn Chronicles and I'm not convinced that was particulary successful.

Don't see why you have to be sarcastic. Or dark. But sure, that's a understandable desire. I'm pretty sure I actually node played a game with that feature.

Why is everyone under the impression that I'm not serious? I'm not even using emoticons!

Then the question would be why it hadn't crossed their minds before they started running low on resources? I mean, the moment you and Corypheus meet in In Your Heart Shall Burn was practically built for that type of moment. Sloppy Bioware.

Two of those games aren't really choice based narratives(Well, arguably GTA, but these are more for gameplay rather than overarching plot points). And not being Geralt is ridiculous. I'm not asking the we not be the Inquisitor, I'm asking for more control AS the Inquisitor. What you're asking for would be ridiculously difficult and budget breaking.

I'm not sure he'd be into those things... Do they even have facials and mani pedis in Dragon Age?

Because the idea of a plot where you are able to become the bad guy eventually and betray everyone is  unimaginable to some  for some reason.

Just looked up what that is. Explains why no one is taking me seriously! Poor timing on my part I suppose, though I'm unaware of any tradition.

That's in the game already though. You just can't join him.

Wouldn't you like to know more, though? I feel there's a deep well of interesting info, lore, and perspective in Corypheus that goes wasted by a lack of casual interpersonal interaction.

Well, I wouldn't call what I'm asking for extremism...

We have far too many hero's stories in games. It's far more fun to be evil! No moral boundaries opens more options which means more fun. Gamers are so boring.
