Cue somebody saying they should be able to side with Sovereign in ME1...

Actually I have a theory about that (how you are actually the villian in the Mass Effect series), but since this is the Dragon Age forum, I won't go into much detail.

The fact that you bothered to respond to my second sarcastic comment on this thread cements my belief that you're pulling an April fools, either that or you're mad

Oh, I didn't see the second "sarcastic" caption, though I don't know why you are being so. I honestly didn't know about this April Fool's thing until someone mentioned it earlier in thread. Once again, I state that my opinions are honest and earnest. Also, I assure that I'm not mad at you for being sarcastic, only a little confused!

He was in a Grey Warden beauty salon so obviously it was the Grey Wardens. They are really an organization of beauticians, the whole blight thing is just a cover.

But then what about Dragon Age: Origins? We never did anything like that...

Is it the one about dark energy or the one about the techno singularity?

That sounds great! I'd love to see what Bioware would do with a romance of a... Whatever Darkspawn are antagonist. It'd give us something unique!

There are plenty of great fanfics out there they could work off of:

  • You've Blighted My Heart
  • I'll Be Your Anchor, You Be My Ship
  • Passion in the Temple of Dumat

Unfortunately, I can't link to them here. They get kinda racy.

No, we didn't because it was one of the many Grey Warden secrets. We were just newbies and there was no one to educate us about it. They only let you in on it when you've gained some experience.

Neither.  Shepard does everything he can to prevent the creation of a human reaper, which in reality is the way to ensure humanity's existence for the rest of eternity. He sacrifices every race in the galaxy to do this.

Aww, c'mon buddy. Be a pal. No one has to tell a mod... And I could label the thread NSFW if that'll make you feel safer. Or, you could PM them to me and I'll post them. Whichever you like.

Huh, interesting, must've been in the books. I don't really read the peripheral material but hey, canon is canon. That's actually a pretty cool twist. Kudos, Bioware, but you're still falling hard on the choice driven narrative.

Interesting perspective. One thing I always wanted to know is what it's like to be inside of a Reaper. I imagine a sort of dualism, the synthetic Reaper interacting with the outside world with a personality formed of the Catalyst's goal and the will of the species that inhabits it, while inside the collective goo there is a world where the people whose consciousnesses were blended still live.

Think like... A metaphysical matrix. People live peacefully inside the Reaper until it is destroyed, ending it's false existence. Tragic. And NGE-esque. I always thought that. Well at least since ME2.

PM sent. Also included a few links to my own artistic renderings in there. I know they're a bit crude, but I really think I captured the raw intensity of the acts.  Enjoy!

Why can't we ally with Corypheus? Why can't we accept that he is right, and the throne is empty? Why can't we let him fill it? Why can't we agree with his goal of change?

i agree with this in fact when i confronted corypheus

my Inquisitor was like: meh you are crazy i  must defeat you

Me behind the screen: This guy is awesome i want to help you if only the option could exist........

I'll turn the Inquisitor into a flea, a harmless, little flea, and then I'll put that flea in a box, and then I'll put that box inside of another box, and then I'll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives... I'll smash it with a hammer!

At the very least we should be given the option to attempt to join him by asking (causing massive disapproval with our companions ;) )

That would be a good compromise. The answer to this thread is easy: letting Corypheus win or joining him destroys the Dragon Age setting as a series, since you can't possibly make another game that accounts for both Cory winning and the Inquisition winning.

In other words, you're playing the wrong series, and it has nothing to do with "choice" but what type of choice this particular game can provide as part of a continuous setting.

Allying with Corypheus has... unpleasant implications.

The true answer - there's no way they'd have it canon and maybe they don't want to hear the fools who would scream about how "choices don't matter" when they can't possibly make two different Thedas'.  One for those who aren't evil douches... and one for those who are.

I don't think it has anything to do with choice or lack of choice.  I just don't see how it would make sense storywise.  At that point it seems like Corypheus has the upper hand and can just take it by force.  What reason can you offer him so that he would even consider allying with you?  He wants to become a god so I don't think he would think of allying with anyone.

Now maybe if you offered to serve him or something. And just to be safe he would have you ingest red lyrium.

I am not a fan of these kinds of threads because some people are under the mistaken impression that having choices means they get to rewrite the entire story which makes no sense.   Siding with the villain is just stupid and defeats the entire purpose of being the protagonist anyway.

On the one hand, OP is probably trolling, the choice seems much to extreme, for current Bioware...on the other hand, it's really sad that Bioware has decided to write in spite of their players, as opposed to through them.

That'd be a proper ending. I'd take that over the nothing we have. I'd even fully expect it.

Here's an idea: how about your Inquisitor drops dead next time he sends his mooks or just let Envy take their place. Problem solved.

Your death will bring victory to the Elder One.

Because its ridiculous and does NOT make a lick of sense.

Then the question would be why it hadn't crossed their minds before they started running low on resources? I mean, the moment you and Corypheus meet in In Your Heart Shall Burn was practically built for that type of moment. Sloppy Bioware.

Resources don't work like that in video game making... they knew the time and money they had to allocate. They could either spend time making a full, fleshed out game or two half-assed split plots that would then make the world state of the next game in the series and every game after have a ridiculously large split to compensate for.

Respectfully, OP, that makes about as much sense as being able to side with Sovereign in ME1.

Cue somebody saying they should be able to side with Sovereign in ME1...

In a sense we can side with the Reapers at the end of ME3 if you went with the control ending.
