So on none grenade kits.

 

I usually go "Thermal Clip Storage" Gear. Especially as I usually don't use the best ammo, or even amp at times, on my Harrier X (unless Platinum, of course). So I usually need the extra ammo anyway. But even if I don't, it's just more chillaxing having more Harrier ammo.

 

If I want Geth Scanner I'll usually go another weapon, like Lancer. But even on the Lancer I'll go Barrage Gear the odd time too.

 

And it's not like I need to play every match outside grenade classes without a Geth Scanner, right?

 

 

 

So yeah, just want to hear other opinion. There's no right or wrong answer, it's just your preference.

Depends on the kit and if they have any CQC powers.

 

 

On BatSent, for example, ammo capacity would take precedent, because he is supremely durable and anything the scanner helps with can be shockwaved and headshotted before it becomes a bigger problem. On a kit with very poor defensive attributes, like...say, Human Sentinel? Geth Scanner for sure.

I never actually use the G'S. Nothing to do with the visuals, just always prefer to use something else.

I may be unusual.  Well, that's a given, but in terms relevant to the question, I've never actually taken Thermal Clip Storage Gear into battle.  Like ever.  Same with Armoured Compartments and Assault Loadout.  I tell a lie - I put Thermal Clips on the PPR and Lancer once each, just to check that it doesn't work.  I use Barrage Upgrade on the BatSent, and Geth Scanner on the TGI, and they're the only characters I use the Harrier on.  I use Targetting VI rather than an AR amps, just in the pretence that I'm making the gun more interesting to use.

 

As a related aside, I've noticed since maxing my manifest that I use waaaay more thermal clips than ever before.  I always knew I would never run out of them, but something convinced me that they were costing me precious gels because of the way the store works.  No such worries now, and I'm having fun burning through them.

 

I'll throw a question back - which character do you think benefits most from Thermal Clip gear (or Assault Loadout, for that matter), assuming Gold level at the very least.  Is it as simple an answer as the TGI?

Clips on GI, scanner on everything else. The Harrier's ammo problem can be compensated for by staying relatively close to ammo boxes and not wasting rounds spraying and praying. Hell even if there's no ammo box nearby you can pop a clip pack, you have 6 of em after all. No amount of skill will allow you to see 20m through walls though.

Shield recharge kits- shield recharge gear

Everything else- geth scanner

Geth Scanner is the best gear in the game, besides Grenade capacity for grenade kits.

 

Thermal clip storage???  I don't think I have ever even used it once.

Thermal clip storage = every map ammo box, learn where they are and run from one to the other as you tank em and spank em

 

geth scanner = you get to see the enemy close by, as they know where you are already even if out of sight slightly nullifying their Nostradamus skills

I'm not running to the ammo box every 15 seconds. Screw that.  I kill better than the harrier does with my guns.

I only use the Harrier with the Demogirl and the DA. On the Demogirl, it's easy, just bring the ammo with you. 

 

On the DA, I'm running to grenade boxes, not ammo boxes  so I'm never out of bullets.

I've been doing it so wrong, on most characters I take the double gears, so Shock Trooper, War fighter, Commando, Martial Biotic, etc.

I don't like using Geth Scanner on everyone, but I do agree it is possibly the best gear there is.

I don´t know what does geth scanner have to do with specific weapon? I would think it´s more linked to what character are you using, either you want additional awarness or not, regardless the weapon.

That said, I don´t think I have ever used it, which is why I vote for thermal clip (but frankly I would probably go for assault rifle amp or something else completely)

Short answer. Any kit that's not a Grenade kit (Stim Packs don't count), anything goes. And even with Grenade kits I might do it sometimes (ie. extra stability help on my Destroyer, due to higher fire rate = more recoil, even if he happens to be a only 2 Grenade wonder).

Trust me. My center of mass is always the head. Even with not very accurate weapons, because as long as some land on the head, I'm happy. But with the Harrier, headshot focus is big part of it's appeal. So it's the only way I'll ever recommend this weapon be played.

 

And bosses still eat too many bullets, even with headshots. And extra Harrier shots is just that; extra Harrier shots. And saying no to that is very hard, because extra Harrier shots = more enjoyable Harrier action. Never a doubt about that (why my Batarians almost always get the Harrier).

 

Seeing through walls is also a massively huge crutch. Most folks that are concerned about only epeen will big time always favour the Geth Scanner if Grenade Capacity isn't needed. Lucky for me, always keeping on eye on the score in between waves is not my style and much prefer to just enjoy playing in whatever mood I may be in, regardless of what my score will end up. So if I totally scrub it up. So be it.

 

Geth Scanner is however a must on teleport through wall kits. So my Cabal is set to 3 Grenades for this reason alone. Ditto for Widow, Black Widow and Javelin with kits, also comes to mind. Because of much easier headshots. ... Oh, and it's very helpful on no dodge kits.

Yes, I have a 4 speaker headset, so very dependant on it sound cues. But Geth Scanner still helps more + there are some really noisy teammate weapons and powers sometimes too.
