Just picked up the 'unique' Robes of the High Keeper (+6 Magic, 29% ranged defence, +7.5% focus...)

Kind of weak when compared with what I can craft at this stage of the game.

Seems to be the same story with most of the so-called 'unique' items.

Anybody else feel different, or the same?

From what I have seen thus far, most of the items you can Craft are better than items that you find.  However, I don't currently have access to The Jaws of Hakkon DLC (I play on Xbox 360) and The Black Emporium will not be available until sometime in May.  So, I don't know what else will be available...

Yes. You are right. Because crafting is broken and have no balance with rest of the game. I crafted amour at level 9 and never find better.

I wish we could deconstruct unique items to get the schematics. I like the appearance of some of the unique variants, but as you've stated, they're often far weaker than the crafted armor you have at the time of acquisition...

If you could upgrade the arms & legs, it wouldn't be so bad, but as it is now, they look nice, but that's about it.

That would be so much more efficient and have Dagna upgrade them

I have a schematic for an armor from the new DLC that matches a unique armor drop, and while I can make it to the stats I want, I don't want to waste my time re-loading a certain save every time just to try and get it upgraded to a Masterwork.  With no slots for the armor upgrades, I find the armor worthless.

Crafting basically killed all loot in the game, what we really needed was loot that scaled to the heroes levels, but nope it was quite gimped.

There are definately unique weapons in the new dlc which do more damage than anything you can craft, and are now at least "descent" and viable alternatives to crafting. But crafting will still be superior because you can set the enchantment masterwork and stat on the items (even if there base damage is a bit lower) to better match your class and playstyle.

I don't have a problem with crafting being overall better if you put the thought+mats+recipe collecting into it.

But I do wish I could use a lot of the better looking skins that I get from unique armor.

'% Masterwork' concept was outright STUPID game design (I'm not going to soften my opinion on this at all), due to the little thing called a save state reload. Just give me the bonus.
