I was pretty sure using this spell and my party members were coming back with almost full health. But now they barely have any. Is there some items or skills that affect this or am I just mistaken?

My guess is that it is all about the potion usage AI settings. Revival brings back your unconscious party member with a low amount of health. If you have potions available and the AI has permission to use them and the health level is below the one you set, bam. It can happen very quickly and if you are not paying attention, you don't see them quaff that vintage healing you were saving for later. If you are seeing more red after a revive, it may be because the AI is denied.

 

It could also just be you are leveling up your HP and Revival only gives back a fixed amount of health?

I don't let my party use potions but I guess it could have been on a new member I hadn't set. I don't think its because I leveled up. Honestly I have no idea.

I have been wondering the same thing. For a while my mage was reviving people to full health, then BAM! almost nothing. They are not downing potions, I checked. In my last game I sometimes had two mages in my party and I always give my mages revival. Dorian and Solas had the exact same build in that tree but one revived people to full health and the other to partial health only. Same level. It was a dragon battle in Emprise du Lion, so you know the potions ran out fast.

 

If anybody knows the answer . . .

I've also encountered this.  I'd assume that reviving with full health is a bug, because healing is supposed to be strictly limited.

Maybe you're right.

 

At first I thought they were distinguishing between two levels, the base spell does no better than if a rogue rouses you while the upgrade provides more health and more protection. Like if you choose to upgrade your potions.

 

I even thought it might depend on the caster's health or mana levels but I couldn't find a pattern there, either. Of course, I didn't exactly pause and examine my stats during battle.
