As most people know, bosses, elites and dragons are immune to weakened. As a rift mage, you dont have a single passive or active that works against these foes (cept for focus ability).
My suggestion is simple. Turn weakness immunity into weakness resistance. Cutting the weakness effect in half - meaning 30% weakness turn into "only" 15% weakness. Weakness is already a weak debuff anyway. On NM, an archer or melee opponent can still kill you in 1-4 hits. In fact, the hakkon archers one shotted solas in the DLC.
This way - restorative veil and twisting veil will allow you to regain mana from attacks and give you the +15% damage bonus vs weakened. Said mobs are still immune to CC, but this way we at least gets 2 good passives in rift mage, making it less useless.
Suggestion on how to fix rift-mage being useless vs bosses, elites and dragons.

I beat every main boss and dragon in Nightmare. Many ways of easily beating them if you use the right gear or strategy. I really hope they don't mess with immunity they are just fine matter of fact I wish they make them harder in nightmare not weaker.

Specializations are not needed. Any class can beat NM mode even without specializations. Even if you dont put a single point in ANY team member's spec NM mode is easily doable.
The point is - every specialization should be rewarded with having at least one to some points being relevant to combat. Currently rift mage does not have any relevant skills for said mobs. So this is not from a point of difficulty. Its about specializations bringing at least a minimum to every fight.
