If we hadn't been dicked around in terms of additional content, maybe people wouldn't be so pissed off.
I struggle to see a significant justification for being unhappy.
The key glitch was mightily annoying, but that's been resolved.
Recent challenges with Druffalo, the zone 5 change and the multi-foes the last couple of days have good.
Clearly there's new stuff in the works.
Enjoy. No need to be grumpy all the time, where's the fun in that?

I can't disagree with you on that. I just wish it wouldn't snowball so bad. I may be to hopeful that maybe if we are nice to them they will be nice to us, but there is no way to guarantee that. The Dev interaction with Bioware is different than what I am used to as it doesn't seem to filter through a PR machine or a thick-skinned social media rep (My main experience is with WoW). They seem to come directly from developers who are just as prone to butt-hurt as we are. Which has its up sides and as we can see definitely has its downsides. I don't like at all how Bioware has handled communicating the design intent behind changes, or possible future content. It would take something little like, "We understand that players are disillusioned with the loot system. We are looking to redesign that. No details yet." or "people are sick of the Maps, we plan to add more as soon as we can. In the meantime we want to keep things fresh with Events". If the community had any idea on what was coming, then we would not be forced to speculate and start making ourselves believe the worst case scenario.
That being said, all the complaining we do, it probably falls on deaf ears because if you went to work everyday and had people sarcastically criticizing every thing you say and do then you would probably tune it out too. Which is why most places hire someone to take that abuse in the forums all day. Lest you go crazy (ala Ghostcrawler).

Jedem das seine. I am clearly not the target audience, but I am sure I would appreciate him more, if I was, say, 14 year old girl.Zevran was way more interesting as a character than Isabela

Thank you, I like to be consistent.
(In truth the MP is probably less good than I say it is and better than you say it is, but why spoil the banter...)

I wanna see another Odd Couple reboot starring Kenny Bania and Sofajockey.
Ha. I liked that show. (the old TV version not the movie)
I always liked the tidy guy, I thought he had something going for him...

We appreciate your candor, Conal. It is good to hear some acknowledgement. There has to be some balance, the community is wearing thin with the monotony. the (sometimes misguided) common knowledge is that we were to expect more content and we have not heard much beyond the "There is stuff we are working on" that is occasionally forced out of the devs. It would be nice to not have to get leaks or patch hacks to know that something big that might motivate the community to continue playing was in the pipeline. We understand that things change with development but we collectively feel in the dark on everything to do with future releases.
Part of the problem in why we aren't always so free to talk about what may or may not be coming out is outlined by Mark in this series of tweets. This is also why studios that aren't publicly traded companies can sometimes be more open about what they are doing (ie government agents and accountants won't come a knocking at their door if they do).

So this gets particularly complex for any hypothetical multiplayer dlc because it's ostensibly 'free' but it also generates some levels of platinum sales.
If announced, some folk may even buy platinum to get their weapons and salvage up ahead of time, others later and others never, but all related to a release not yet released, so when do you recognise the revenue? When it's announced, released, when some folk buy stuff? What an accounting nightmare. Tends to encourage companies to do a 'Beyonce' I guess...

This was somewhat informative, but also somewhat oversimplified. Can you explain in more detail? Do free DLCs create a situation where the product is partially delivered because there is a promise of a product? I haven't bought anything additional so is that saying you get the promise of more content when you buy the game?
Or like Sofa said, the platinum sales?

I'm no accountant but I dimly remember finance people tutting over 'revenue recognition' in software sales.
I know it's an issue, though I don't claim to understand it fully.
I wonder of there are any accountants who play DAMP, or experts in Canadian GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Actually, this could well be covered by US GAAP if EA looks to the accounts to be done consistently.
tl;dr
Summary: It messes up tax, internal payments and the accounts if DLC is announced too far ahead of when it actually releases.
So DLC is announced as close to the actual release date as possible.

So what you are saying is that is why the official announcement for the Destruction DLC did not occur until after it was already available online? Hmm... So what I seem to be getting out of all of this is that I will be downloading the DragonSlayer DLC at 4am this morning and only then paying into the platinum service to reward all the hard-work that went into it, and I am in no way participating in "magical-thinking".... Got it!

Why don’t you consider it as a loan and give players few big chests as interests ![]()
