She wouldn't need to head back to Orzammar. But if she was named, her entire House would be raised to nobility, her caste would be a thing her father wouldn't have to concern herself with anymore
.
What Dagna's doing is definitely
Paragon material. She's established a union between Orzammar and the Mages of the current era in White-Chantry Thedas, whereas prior to this the Dwarves had only a partnership with Tevinter.
This means a greater amount of trade might go on between the Circle and Orzammar. More coin for the Dwarves. Mages would flock to there to understand lyrium better, perhaps to work in concert with the Dwarves. Orzammar would be better equipped to contend with Demons, which though rare in the Deep Roads still happen
(Abominations even flee underground sometimes).
The same house that gave up on her, right? Her father would still be disappointed in her, because she didn't follow the path he wanted her to be on.
She isn't really doing paragon material. The dwarves really don't care about the mages like that, but is more concerned with the darkspawn that is killing their people everyday. The carta already have a relationship with the Mages/Templar, and within that relationship is a relationship between the Carta and Orzammar dwarves. Just read Darktown's Deal in Valammar.

Sera x Dagna is bad. I am not saying that as a Sera hater. I like her. I like Dagna too, for that matter.
But the pairing is bad and whoever wrote it should feel bad.
Dagna is sweet and her fascination with things above her level defines her character. Sera sticks her nose up at things she does not consider "normal" -- and magic, the thing Dagna loves, might just be the biggest no-no on her list. She is also not very sweet. Not indecent, just kind of rude at times and arrogant at others.
I get that opposites attract sometimes, but if Sera cannot respect the thing Dagna is passionate about and dedicated her life to, then you do not have the makings of a good, healthy relationship there. It's not like we see Sera show a willingness to accept things she otherwise dislikes for an Inquisitor she is in a relationship with -- hell, she breaks up with you if you reject her dogma about the Temple of Mythal being lies/demons (again with the magic hate lol) -- so I am not counting on Sera to open her mind to magic just because she and Dagna might like each other.
Then again, this game gave us Dorian x Bull, so bad NPC pairings are kind of a thing here.

The carta already have a relationship with the Mages/Templar, and within that relationship is a relationship between the Carta and Orzammar dwarves. Just read Darktown's Deal in Valammar.
He might be upset that she didn't take after the Smith trade, but I think he'd be hard-pressed to be disappointed in her if she were named Paragon. That's the stuff of dreams, right there, as far as Dwarven custom is concerned. Being a smith would've been safe, sure, but being a Paragon?
Nah, he'd be proud of her, if that happened. She'd no longer be casteless. He does still care about her, no matter how disappointed he is, given that he wishes her well.
And Dagna's work would inevitably lead to Mages flocking to Orzammar, perhaps for liberties they won't gain elsewhere, with the added bonus of easy access to lyrium that's not stifled by the Chantry monopoly. Such liberties would come perhaps with the provision that they help in the fight against the Darkspawn (whether it be through front-line combat, healing magic, or research into better ways to deal with the Darkspawn).
And yes, the Carta has a trade relationship with Templars and Mages, and I somewhat believe that since the Mage's can't openly conduct business with the Carta (even Godwin's business was clandestine) that they use the Mages' Collective as middlemen to help out. What we know is that the MC (Hammer) has ties to the Circle Mages. The Carta would probably have a hard time getting in most Circles (Kirkwall does have a smuggler's entrance, but Kinloch Hold requires boat passage and authorization) but the MC has their ways.
Of course, the Carta could just as easily be bribing Templars in authority to grant them access to conduct their business (less of a profit cut there), but I imagine the MC and the Carta would work together because it benefits all parties. The Mages use the Carta to bribe Templars, thus ensuring their continued freedom, while the Carta uses the Mages to conduct business on their part. This is really supported by Rogek wishing to use us as a middleman
But think of the potential Dagna has. She could set in action a series of events that leads to further trade with the Dwarves (and they need it and would be fools to refuse it). Formari and Tranquil merchants bring their wares (books, clothes, food from the Circle, etc.) to Orzammar and Orzammar benefits, of course. But a more legitimate means of trade also sees fit to weaken the Carta, as Orzammar becomes less reliant on them for its survival.
I'm convinced the Carta is responsible for the assassination attempts on Dagna's life, at least before her recruitment (once she's recruited a WTM opens up with her saying Imperial Templars will be coming to assassinate her). Perhaps they tried to recruit her and she refused, and so they want to see her dead so the world can't use her, but also see what she does as a threat to their establishment.
And if Josie's picked to inform her father of her deeds, Dagna and her father also ends up leading to trade agreements between the Inquisition and Orzammar. Also Paragon material. She's strengthening the ties between Orzammar and the surface.
Dagna is, by her very nature, something that will lead to increased trade with the Dwarves. She's a scholar of renown working for a multi-national organization (potentially led by a Dwarf) that brings a lot of knowledge to the table for various factions.

I just wanted to chip in and let you know that Bioware did a great job on Dagna for DAI. She didn't have much going for her in DAO but now she's one of my favorite characters. They made her quite adorable. ![]()
