I'm not sure if it would be more appropriate to post this in the DA/ME boards or in the off topic section, but I've been curious: if you could take any group of characters from ME1-3 and DAO-DAI and form a 4-man dream team, who would you choose? Just choose any 4 characters (companions and player characters both count) and choose either the Dragon Age or the Mass Effect setting for them to appear in (i.e. Dragon Age characters would be equipped with guns and shields a la ME, and ME characters would trade their firearms for swords and magical staves a la DA). For the sake of consistency (since one is sci fi and the other is fantasy), try to imagine the characters adhering to one franchise's rules. For example, a mage in DA would be a biotic in ME, since magic isn't a thing in ME (and vice versa, biotics would be magic in DA).

I would go with Sentinel maleShepard, Warrior male human Inquisitor re-imagined as a Soldier in ME kit, Miranda, and Cassandra re-imagined as a Sentinel in ME kit for my team. The Big Damn Heroes and their Action Girl romances, roaming around the galaxy righting wrongs and saving the day.

I got the idea for this thread from looking at this neat piece of fan art that mixes DA and ME:

It's a sole survivor, colonist, Paragon, Sentinel version of FemShep, but with diplomatic FemHawke's voice acting and mannerisms/personality.

She travels around the Galaxy with:

A sarcastic/aggressive Vanguard version of MaleHawke. A former N7 Marine turned bounty hunter. Very paragade.

Edit (added more): Kaiden Alenko, Garrus Vakarian, Dorian Pavus, Mordin Solus, Zaeed Massani, and Legion.

The non-combat crew includes: Dagna as an Engineer and Cullen Rutherford as a High ranking military advisor.

It's as much about the voice acting as anything. I love both male and female Hawke's voice acting the best.

I play Shepard as a "Soldier-plus" type Sentinel. Basically, weapons are the focus, and tech/biotic powers serve to complement that. So, in Thedas, I imagine he would either be a Reaver or (more likely) Knight-Enchanter/Arcane-Warrior.

Warden Mahariel was a rogue who got really specialized. As a hunter, he had Ranger skills, calling on animals to fight with him. Then Zevran passed his Crow training onto him. Then he trained with Legion of the Dead in his travels. He also drank dragon blood. And Avernus's potion. So... yeah. He is a true freak of nature. In Mass Effect? Having pets makes me want to go with Engineer, but that just seems underpowered. Infiltrator might be closer, but even that does not seem to fit. Truth be told I think this just might not be doable. It would be like Engineer w/ Tactical Cloak, Reave, and Biotic Focus.

Ilda Hawke is a human hurricane. It would be all too easy to peg her as a Vanguard in the ME series because she does have that high-risk/high-reward style of fighting. However, Vanguards are kind of sloppy. Ilda may not have a subtle bone in her body, but she's nonetheless very skillful with her weapons (bows and daggers both). No to Infiltrator because Ilda uses very little subterfuge skills. No, she would be Soldier. Adrenaline Rush suits her -- intense, blood pumping, yet focused as she lines up the perfect shot and then feels herself release that bottled-up rage as she [stabs/pulls the trigger/releases the string].

Lavellan, actually headcanoned as my Warden's orphaned son, is a guy who I imagine is not very powerful until his special-training as a Reaver. Then he becomes amazing despite his feeble appearance. Sentinel, I think. Sentinels are seen as the anti-Soldier, and thus are assumed not to be very tough, but their powers can actually make them very durable and very powerful.

Some fun dream-teams using the above player-characters...

-- LadyHawke, Cass, Ashley, Jack... four tough cookies, all female.

-- Lavellan, Merrill, Kasumi, EDI ... least-intimidating fireteam ever??

-- Mahariel, Shale, Javik, Thane ... welcome to the freak show.

-- Shepard, Isabela, Vivienne, Dog... Izzy replacing Jack as Shepard's passionate lover, Vivienne would bring magic/biotics to the table and she would just "get" him, and Dog because you know Shep always wanted to bring Urz into battle but never could.

NPC only...

-- Loghain, Zaeed, Javik, Cassandra ... do I even need to elaborate?

-- Mordin, Solas, Finn, Tali ... nerd squad (Liara could have gone here if I did not find her so intolerable)

-- EDI, Legion, Justice, Cole.

-- Wrex, Grunt, Sten, Iron Bull... team savage (LOL!)

-- Fenris, Anders, Jacob, Liara... team GTFO.

-- Dog, Urz, KEI-9, Storvacker (sp?)... team pets.

... Ooh I'm sure there are many more I can come up with, but, it's late and I gotta go to bed. Took long enough writing this damn post up anyway.

Oh love love love love love this idea.

My Soldier Shepard-Abigail Shepard.  She is a paragrade, specialist in assault rifles and snipers.  Survived the battle of Torfan with great regret and eventually became the leader humanity needed.  Is pragmatic and fiercely loyal to her crew and her companions around them.  Her experiences on Torfan coupled with her present day attitudes makes her the perfect leader.  She is pragmatic enough to know what needs to be done yet kind enough to put her team first both on and off the mission.  Her knowledge of weapons means she would lead from the front...or the rear, sniping Darkspawn and Husks alike.

Cassandra Penteghast- Probably the other most bad arse woman ever.  She can hold her own in a fight.  Could her Templar abilities disrupt biotics?  Otherwise she could hold her own and help the team out, her guard, and her sword and board or two handed warrior skills might actually be useful against the legions of husks she has to battle...and with all her guard and rally abilities she might be the only person, aside from Shepard herself, who can take a Reaper Particle beam to the face.

Garrus Vakarian-  The biggest bro in the Galaxy, though one who can also snipe across football stadiums if the mind is of the opprotunity.  Steady under fire, though he does make a few questionable decisions every now and then.  Still, the bed rock of the team.

Varric Tethras:  Probably just there for his ability to bro.  If he was ever put into a fight in the ME universe, he may not last too long.  Though maybe Shepard can set him up with some bad arse sniper rifle which he can dub Bianca Mk 2.  Still, great to have around and he would break up the tensest of situations.  Plus, he his loyalty makes up for any other demands people might make on his time.

James Vega-  He would be the perfect tank from the ME universe.  Loyal, yet conflicted.  Great to have in a fight, great to break up tense situations, and always willing to put it on the line for those around him.

OH.

I'd have my protagonist be my Trevelyan, and I'd choose Mordin, Miranda, Tali, Garrus, Grunt, Samara, Kaidan, Alistair, Leliana, Morrigan, Cassandra, Cole, Bethany and Vivienne to be in my team! With Traynor, Josephine and Cullen being assistant, adviser and second in command respectively. (If you actually think I'd choose only 4 from both franchises I'm laughing at you).

My life would be complete.

Duncan Aduecan as a vanguard
Renegade Shepard as an adept
Sten as a soldier
Captain Anderson as a soldier ( not actually a companion but he does travel with you at certain points and I had to fit him in)

This thread is amazing! Hmm, just one standard four person team...? Dammit that's hard! Right...

While I adore my Warden, I think my Paragade FemShep and my Cheeky Hawke would bring the house down together.  Hawke would be a soldier spec'ed much the same as Ashley. For companions, hrm...Leliana as Infiltrator (while my Shep is an Infiltrator and doesn't feel particularly rogue-ish, that's the closest equivalent, right?) and Liara as her usual badass biotic self.

Good thing you mentioned Anderson, I never even though of him when I made the OP.

As a bonus, temporary companions (like Anderson), secret companions, and DLC-only companions are valid as well, so Sigrun, Mhairi, Loghain, Aria, Nyreen, all of them work.

Oh, and I thought just choosing a team in each was hard...

Okay, complete bias and not a whole lot of balance, but Sentinel Paragade FemShep, Liara (dem biotic explosions  ), Leliana, and Cassandra. Infiltrator and Soldier for the last two respectively seems a bit obvious, so maybe Vanguard-specced Cassandra? That could be fun. If we were to do the DA setting instead, KE would work perfectly for Shepard and Liara would, obviously, be one hell of a mage. Force Mage, maybe?

I'd throw Cole in the mix, but he'd just complicate things. Although, Garrus, Wrex and Sarcastic Hawke would just be brilliant together. Throw in Zevran, Isabela, Sera or Varric, and nothing will ever get done, but it'll be pretty hilarious  :P

My evil for the sake of being a jerk rouge warden who likes to threaten chantry priestesses and keep his murder knife at the ready. My aggressive but moral mage hawke. Doesn't suffer fools, hates blood magic, loyal to his friends and is brutal to his enemies. Last but not least, Badass biotic Shepard. Needn't explain what this guy can do.

So there you have it. 3 trigger happy, blood thirsty protagonists! Wave goodbye to the universe if you have these three on the same side.

Don't really care about the universe, also don't particularly like any specific PC.

So let's just say PC and Morinth, that's all I really need. But if I had to have 2 more, I'd go for Zaeed and Zevran.

The guy who made the Dragon Effect art seems to be working on a Mass Age (really creative names he's given them) piece now as well. He's drawn Vivienne in Mass Effect styled clothing, almost like an Adept.
