Im in Chateau d'Onterre and ive found the first picture clue, but when i go into the bedroom with the second picture , there is no option to search the room and the picture hasnt slid right implying that i already got the picture. so i cant drop the dragons tail to get the key, to open the door to the balcony... any thoughts

There are four locations you need to search. The first in the pool in the courtyard, the second at the bust at the top of the stairs leading to the library, the third is in the bedroom with the fireplace, and the fourth with the dragon. If you have done all these without being able to proceed, it is likely a glitch.

I would advice going around the house and collect the loot first (you can go everywhere except the final balcony). The undead will only start spawning after you pick up the pool clue, until then you have all the time in the world to explore the house. Then proceed to pick up the clues. This way you will have the least hassle with the respawning undead.

Thank you!  Is it entering the courtyard or searching the pool itself that triggers them?  I usually just try to ignore them as I search and only fight when they make it an issue, but delaying them would help.  A lot.

Searching the pool. Loot everything first, and then go quickly through all the clues. Since the undead are quite slow, this way the only ones you have to fight are in the locked balcony (and those spawning afterwards in the courtyard).
