Who in heck would release a game that forces you to auto save every 5 mins. I will NEVER EVER buy another product from this company who won't even adress this problem let alone fix it. SAVING TO MY HARD DRIVE SHOULD BE A CHOICE!!!!!
![]()
PLEASE. For the love of the maker. Release a patch to turn off auto-save.

You do have the choice to save to your hard drive? The game can crash though, like all software, so I don't see any benefit to removing this safety net.
Also, please return all copies of Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, or iWork you might be using. They are also part of the international Data Preservation Conspiracy™and might conflict with your moral stance.

Great. Then what is the problem with some background saves?
Not a problem and not requiring a fix in (not only) my opinion.
Some understanding would assist the confusion that your very angry OP is generating please.

If you agree fine, if you don't agree thats fine too. If you don't find a problem with a game forcing you to save, fine you're entitled to that opinion.

I'm angry because 2 reasons.
1. I feel saving is something that I should have a choice in the matter. It is my hard drive after all.
2. Auto-saving prevents me from enjoying the game properly.

For those that have no experience with autosave difficulties -extraordinary to say the least. Autosaves can carry errors forward -the math gets you every time. When games are buggy, manual saves are often the only reliable means to move forward until you clear the bug condition or back up and avoid triggering it.

I don't understand. Auto-save doesn't prevent you from manually saving the game at any point you'd like to troubleshoot bugs.

I just checked my save files and the largest one is 703kb. So I am wondering, OP, if hard drive space is a concern, how in the world are you playing THIS game on a machine where kbs of hard drive space are an active concern for you?

Autosave should at least be a toggleable option.
Having an SSD it doesn't bother me, but I can certainly see how it could be a pain for others on older systems.

I've heard some SSD users saying that's why they don't want autosaves. Aren't they supposed to wear out relatively quickly?
Well yeah, that too. I mean some say they wear out quicker, others say it's a non issue, so I don't know what to believe. I'm a compulsive game saver anyway.
I just keep my drive backed up and keep myself covered either way.

No. Stress testing shows that the lifetime for these cells is more than sufficient even for rigorous use (and it's not all-or-nothing; cells that fail are simply retired, so it takes some major wear for the drive to become unusable).I've heard some SSD users saying that's why they don't want autosaves. Aren't they supposed to wear out relatively quickly?
And the amount of data the game writes is minuscule (saves aren't even a single MB). Even saving every minute, it likely makes up a totally insignificant fraction of overall IO activity.

My perfectly good ps3 that runs countless other games flawlessly games like gta5, watch dogs, dark souls 2, far cry 3 & 4, AC4, BF4. It sometimes freezes up while autosaving DA:I then I have to hard reboot plus I often have to reset the settings.
I think it it has something to do with the digital copy of the game trying to read and write data at the same time.

Hmm.. I don't know you guys...... A solution to this might be to "manually save" after some time yourself........Or after autosave, you "manually save" before you leave the game. It has been this way ever since..... right?

In the time frame the SSD gets worn down, you really should be thinking of upgrading. That's assuming you're really putting it through its paces.

Old gen consoles may have limited disk storage space.
I turned off autosave myself and save the game manually.

As someone playing the PS3 version, I have experienced a number of freezes and suspect that many may be caused by the autosave functionality clashing with other functions (triggering a cutscene, accessing the war table, etc). I've reached the point that whenever I see the spinning circle I make a point of limiting my actions to movement until the autosave is complete.
