Got to disagree.

A detonating multi shock combat drone is perfectly viable on gold.
Missile centry turrets can be dropped and forgot about, killing multiple moors.
Flamer turrets are great for priming if you know how to time the donation.

"moors"?

I may have to drop one into a production of "Othello" and see if that works

Turrets are mostly a means to an end, not the end itself. The only thing that worries me is a that a platinum prime's turret hits like a harrier while my own shoots a water pistol!

They have pills for that...

The only turret not worth using is the Quarian one

The Quarian turret is really useful on both the FQE and the TSab.

BSN has a thing about pouring scorn on some stuff instead of trying to find the way to get the best out of it.

Because while I throw the turret I am not using other powers that would stagger/debuff/prime for the next attack.

...

Please consider that you usually put the points you save for the turrets into fitness.

You can place the turret in between waves, as you run away from something big, while you're repositioning to get sight on the enemies.

If you're tossing the turret at a Marauder that's firing on you, you are doing it wrong.

You can put the points into fitness but they will only help you kill faster if they mean you can tank more damage to stay on your feet better. Otherwise they are better put into a source of free damage and crowd management that lets you kill stuff more easily. Combat Drone, Sentry Turret, Geth Turret all let you do the latter.

This is what I meant by fast-paced.

I don't wait for the enemies - I go where they are.

So, how would I know exaclty where to put the turret between the waves on larger maps??

Marauder:

haha - you mean like: hoping that the turret hurts them when it hits them at the head?

Of course I would not do that.

Because instead I could have killed them on the spot or make an explosion that hits multiple enemies, etc.

This is why I find the turrets only little helpful.

Fitness:

Yes - more fitness means staying just THAT short moment longer in the open

you need to set off an explosion, or... etc.     So it does help you kill things faster.

The spawns in this game are fairly predictable after a while.  Take note of where you and your team-mates are, and place the turret accordingly.

I normally reposition it after wiping out the first spawn, but the same basic principle applies: note where team mates are.  If they're fighting, throw turret in their direction.  If not, throw towards nearest likely spawn.

You seem to have read the exact opposite of what I wrote.

On my first times using turret users I too felt disappointed at the low damage. I started to compare turret damage with other tech powers. Using Paladin or Quarian female engineer with their powers up thinking they would detonate as hard as Biotic detonations. Result: disappointed.

Then I kind of realized that Tech powers like cryo, incinerate, the electrical one, and TURRETS, are not meant for high damage like Biotics, but to weaken or disable enemies with status(burn, freeze, stun).

Turrets have almost as low damage as fire, ice and thunder tech powers, but they shoot many times. And they are usefull for attacking enemies behind covers. Dont count on it as a distraction when running away from many enemies, they often will ignore the turret and go after you. Poor flamer turret, all alone, being ignored by enemies :(

I think that engineers have to level their weapon damage instead of power(maybe 4B since they may need speed charge up), since fire, ice and thunder will not do lots of damage but weaken enemies defenses.

Yep.  I like having skills that I can skip entirely.

I was playing as the FQE, and my sentry turret was outscoring incinerate fairly substantially.  Maybe that says more about the way I play, but I do find it a useful power.

Even from my scrubby stance, I am perfectly aware of how very well you play. I'm sure you're doing it right.

It is curious how very strongly the edong comes out in this forum when someone mentions drones, turrets, etc. "I don't need that stuff, I kill everything myself before it can touch me anyway!" (That needs to be read out loud in your gruffest Rocky Balboa voice.)

See now I'm in the complete opposite camp. I find it hilarious when my name appears in the kill feed because my pet has killed something. Less work for me to do.
