1) I tried to import a ME1 character to ME2 and it failed because I didn't have the "configuration utility"

2) I've spent the passed hour looking for a way to enable them but it's been unsuccessful. I found this thread and they gave something to download where it would be able to do cheats.

3) I tried to load up the DLC I have, but I couldn't connect to the server because the "eaonline.com" site is gone. Can I still use my DLC or am I screwed?

The one problem I've run into every time is the file directory. Everywhere I see it says to check "C:/Program Files/Mass Effect 2/BioGame/", plus more per problem 1 and 2, but when I look, I don't even have the "Mass Effect 2" folder in the Program Files area. The only one I have is in the "My Documents" area. I also didn't have the "PC" or "Cooked" folder. I don't know if I had to make one or it should have been there or what.

I didn't buy the physical copy, I downloaded it via Origin with the trilogy pack. If anyone can give me advice, I welcome anything anyone can offer at this point.

Ok, I'll try to give you a hand.

First of all, the Mass Effect 2 install folder is where you told Origin to install the game. If you did not change anything it is likely somewhere like "C:\Program Files\Origin Games\" or under 'Program Files (x86)'.

The path is set in Origin itself, under Origin -> Application Settings -> Advanced (Or similar, My Origin is set to German).

The "Cooked" folder e.g., is located in "BioGame\Config\PC\" under the ME2 root directory.

1.) Save Importing:

The config tool should be accessible via the ME2 Launcher. It can also be run it directly from the "Binaries" folder inside the ME2 install. The name is "MassEffect2Config.exe"

If Origin screwed up and did not install this with ME2 (as happened to me with DA:O's Updater Tool) you can manually transfer the save.

In the "My Documents" folder under "BioWare" is a "Mass Effect" as well as the ME2 folder you already found. Just copy the "char_<some numbers>.MassEffectSave"

from "Mass Effect\Save" to "Mass Effect 2\Save\ME1" and ME2 should find it. (The ME1 folder is important, if it is not there, just create one)

2.) Cheats and tools:

Personally I wouldn't bother with these, for the most part ME2 is easy enough (on up to normal difficulties). If you really want some, I'd suggest 'trainers' that don't alter the base game. The ones from Gamecopyworld or Cheathappens are usually somewhat save to use.

Not a cheat, but If you have way to long loading times, you might want to take a look at this: Mass Affinity. But I'm not sure if it works with the origin version. There is also a loading screen mod on Nexus, that can further reduce load times.

3.) DLC:

AFAIK DLC verification is done via a Bioware server (which should still be there and active). Maybe your Firewall blocked the masseffect2.exe?

ME2 DLC only need to be verified once, so a 1-time exception to the firewall should be enough.

That really helped me, thanks dude. I found the Origin Games folder on another of my internal harddrives. I searched for the files with the Windows search function but I guess it was only checking my main HDD instead of everything. -_- Also, for some reason, even though the game told me that it couldn't find a save, my game was imported. In the "Mass Effect 2/ME1" folder was the same file of my ME1 save. I have no idea what happened, but...yeah? As far as the DLC goes, I remember that I did have a firewall message pop up that I missed until a bit after the DLC check. I think that's why it didn't check it. Either way, you helped a lot just by telling me about the installation folder. I should have thought of that. I blame my current sickness on top of being tired. Thanks again, dude.
