Provided both Valkyrie and Fury take 5A evolution of AF and that they both take the damage increasing evolution of their respective detonator, the Fury's BE will still be ten percent weaker than those of Valkyrie. Add to that the fact that Valkyrie can have much stronger base power damage, thanks to 5A evolution of TA and I'm having a really hard time seeing how Fury could kill Marauder/Centurion with one BE, but Valkyrie couldn't.
On topic, it's no brainer for me. Fury is an abomination that should never be spawned into this world. Valkyrie is the best, most beautiful thing that ever came to be. She is, hands down, the best kit and character out there. Fury makes no sense. Valkyrie is actually a believable and well thought out character. And as I've said often, don't give her puny stuff like Phalanx. Give her Raider and watch her melt brutes and ravagers in matter of seconds. She has somewhat steep learning curve, but for me, she is the clear winner. Both in matter of power and fun factor. Just don't play her in a laggy game, since she tends to die a lot in that case.
Somebody once gave what I think is a very apt comparison: Fury is the light cavalry. Get in fast, strike fast, GTFO. Valkyrie is the heavy cavalry. Strikes slower but harder and can actually hold on her own for a while.
Both Fury and Valkyrie can't kill a shielded mook in 1 BE without Acolyte. But Fury can chain BE's 2 times faster and can have BE's from range.
Valkyrie is an excellent and survivable character, but to me she's no where near as fun or diverse as the Fury. and on top of that Fury is the original "get in your face adept BE'er" that was built with unique powers from scratch
Valkyrie was just constructed from existing parts.
So you're saying the Fury is OP and therefore no one should ever play her.
Am I doin' it right?
She's super powerful in the right hands.
3. YES. Yes, you nailed it. The Valkyrie should be used differently from her sister, exactly because of what you experienced: warp has too long of a CD to make a BE-only build effective. What you should do, instead, is pick both debuff evos in AF and warp, pack a powerful shotgun with warp IV ammo, apply warp before getting into AF range, then get into AF range and start destroying everything with your gun. If things survive for more than 3-4 seconds, another warp for a BE will clean everything. As for which shotgun, I prefer the Raider, personally, but Wraith and Piranha work awesomely too, if you want a shorter CD. I wouldn't advice going heavier than the Raider, for once. TA cooldown penalty and warp long cooldown discourage that.
4. See above
Yup, yup.
Fury: Mobs -> Boss
Valkyrie: Boss -> Mobs
Drell Adept: Mobs -> Boss
Batarian Adept: Boss -> Mobs
Geth Infiltrator: Shoot -> Everything
Quarian Infiltrator: Airlock -> Hard Vacuum
Valkyrie was just constructed from existing parts.
Fury is an asari-wannabe. No power makes her unique.
Never mind that Retaliation released after Earth ![]()

I like Asari's very much. But when Fury came out she was unique in dodge, AF, DC and the whole concept of in your face adepting. Sure Justicar could do it before wth bubble kamikaze runs, but c'mon it's nowhere near as devastating or fast as the Fury. ![]()

Valkyrie is a weapons class.
Furry is an abomination
Yup.
This is one of the few things on which I agree with you.
Fury is the first thing I'd airlock along with the reegar. I'd rather play the volus merc with shuriken (and I am damn serious).

Haven't I airlocked you a couple of times already?
Well, go on then, join your Collector friends in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE again.

Raider or venom. ImoBrace yourself, Claymore posts are coming.
Fury on host and gold, valkyrie for off host and plat. Valkyrie is more forgiving in many ways, fury is a true killing machine when played on host. Both I run with hurricane sided with acolyte and play style is quite similar.
Either way B-BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Raider or venom. Imo
Piranha is my favorite shotgun that's not Reegar.
- I suspect the power magnifier isn't doing much for me, since all the damage comes from BEs and not from power damage as such. Is a light shotgun a better weapon choice (e. g. Disciple / Scimitar / Piranha / Wraith)?
No, a heavier shotgun, namely Venom. Claymore is acceptable too. Probably want to take the Recharge speed rank 6 evo on Throw, though.
NEITHER! BECAUSE THEY CAN'T BURN! TAKE VORCHA INSTEAD!!! FIRE TRUMPS ALL! GRRAAAAAAAAAGGHHH!!

In that case I'll take the Trooper
His fire is better.
can't go wrong with a little Valkyrie cheese.

1. get close
2. throw warp
3. shoot reegar
4. watch stuff melt.
NO
at least not when I play her. and I am not doing too bad...
You can play the Valkyrie as a BE class if you want to, and you can do pretty well with it, but you're pretty much just playing a gimped Fury if you do that.

I've played Fury a lot in the last couple days, and I like her quite a lot (short of the fact that I die 4 times in each wave, on average. Don't like that very much). This is my build. As you can see, I'm focusing on biotic combo damage (wonder if I should take the Throw 6b evo - recharge time. The difference is minute, though). Phalanx is here only because I'm collecting 140k points with it for the challenge, although it's surprisingly decent for an uncommon and serves its purpose well.
Now, Valkyrie. Here's what I have right now, and it doesn't work very well. I have very hard time staying alive, and the my damage is not great because even with both recharge speed evos (Tech Armor 6a and Warp 6b), Warp's recharge speed is 2.6s.
Questions:
- Is Fury a better character than Valkyrie?
- Fury has a non-essential ability (Dark Channel), so she can easily be specced 6/0/6/6/6. The same is not true for Valkyrie, all the abilities are useful. Do I still want to drop something? Should I drop the passives altogether? Or, maybe, tech armor? But then I'll discard the signature sentinel ability, as well as some tankiness. Would gain DPS due to faster recharge, though.
- I suspect the power magnifier isn't doing much for me, since all the damage comes from BEs and not from power damage as such. Is a light shotgun a better weapon choice (e. g. Disciple / Scimitar / Piranha / Wraith)? Valkyrie has a lot of time between Warps to unload the clip, even a large one.
- Is there any notable difference between the two characters? Are there builds that exploit differences rather than playing both the same way?
1. It's all in the eye of the beholder. I'm not partial to either. I guess I like the Fury less than the Valkyrie, but both are classes I don't play often.
2. Sometimes it's useful to detonate a biosplosion at range, e.g. turrets. So putting 3 ranks in DC is beneficial, which is why I run the Fury with 63656. I play only Plat (and Gold for solo challenges), so I tend to prioritize survivability. Which is why I find it essential to have 5B and 6B on annihilation Field (Speed and Shield Drain) and rank 5 in Fitness. My Valkyrie is specced 56645.
3. Warp can be pretty damaging to armor and barriers, so you can't really go wrong with power magnifier. But ... read point 4.
4. There is - Fury tends to be most effective when you make biotic boom-booms as fast as possible, Valkyrie tends to be most effective when you debuff with Warp and shoot bosses with a BFG (not to mention the possible Incendiary cheese). Normally I have the Piranha on her, but Claymore works wonders too (I'm doing a duo challenge with exactly this setup atm). Come to think of it, Raider would be good too.
Dark Channel is VERY essential. I spec her with 0 points in her weapon/power passives. She is the only character that I do this with. DC is more used for your long range priming, and AF for your CQ priming. DC still does good damage, and if you play her right, you will be draining shields a lot so you should be on your feet. She plays FAST!
Is Fury a better character than Valkyrie?

With that out of the way, this is the build I use when I feel like being an unstoppable juggernaut of complete and total annihilation, I think it or something similar may have already been linked above.
I hate the furry, she's staying on the shelf for me from now til the servers shut down.

Tissue paper and tanks. They both serve a purpose but shouldn't be a direct comparison. I like both for what they are and the best one is the one I happen to be playing at the moment.

This may sound stupid and probably very creepy, but I want to have your babies right now, biology be damned.
