Tali is awesome, and my male Shepard has never had another LI. And that is how it is meant to be!!!

Tali was the ME2 Li that I had far more negative reactions to. The idea of a physical encounter between a Quarian and Human breaks all the lore about their species IMO.
I didn't really get into the idea of Tali as an LI until I worked with Shotgun Julia in an ME rewriting group and read her ideas about how the Quarians compensate for their physical issues with technology. She wrote out an idea that the Quarians had developed an advanced implant technology that converts organic emotions and physical sensations into a digital form that could be shared between species and other Quarians; allowing the "lovers" to share a connection far beyond a mere physical encounter with none of the risks associated with a physical encounter.
There were firewalls built into the design as well. A Quarian could use the system for Virtual sex level intimacy or far deeper emotional connections where the firewalls are opened into the "soul" and complex emotional states of more intimate bonds like love
