Downloaded the game from Direct2Drive(yea I know, they give HORRIBLE customer support so I am hoping some kind soul can help me here.

I downloaded the game, Extracted the files Opened 'Setup' on admin control(using Vista 32) and accepted the EULA. When I 'Agree' to the EULA I hit the 'Agree' Button and the next screen says "Installation Cancelled' followed by 'The Installation of Mass Effect 2 has been cancelled. To run the installer again, please run Setup."

So I have seen people complain on the Web about this problem with D2D and Steam, but no solutions unless you consider people accusing you of pirating the game an answer. Frustrating to spend $60, have D2D blow you off, no good answers on the Net, and people on every forum you post on say nothing. 

I guess this is just one of those tough ones probably involving Vista 32, but if you do know I will give you huge Karma points for taking the time to help me out

I'd say redownload the .exe - how big was yours? maybe if we can get a poll of what the proper .exe size is we could go from there.

Having same issue. my dl from d2d was 10.08G

Downloaded it again and 9.61Gb and SAME problem still :/

I usually download my games through D2D using Download Manager but the link I received just downloads it via the browser...

I am just frustrated and confused, D2D will ONLY send out a copy/paste email saying 'work with Bioware and EA' type crap, they will not even get anyone who has an IQ over 12 to look at any problems. This is the last time I use them, I am moving to Steam now.

I downloaded the comrade download manager and had it go through the motions. when it began install it got to the serial number entry and began installing. One step further than before. Hope it helps anyone else with this issue.

Yea, I have been using Chrome for about two weeks now and did not realize that when I downloaded the file it was not using Download Manager. So... I switched back to IE and downloaded it again with Download Manager and HOPE this will work.



Amazing how Direct2Drive does not give any effort to helping you considering they charge $10 more and have very little overhead costs. From now on, I will use Steam, at least they seem to care about their customers and provide a forum.



I will let you know if this fixes the problem

just torrent it and use the code they gave you, no problem with legal issues if you have a real code. I had to torrent ME1 and im staring at the, well glaring at the install disk and my cd key

So you are implying I pirated this? You are at best semi-literate and obtuse. Read the entire thread before commenting. This problem was/is the direct result of not using the Download Manager with Direct2Drive and their completely inept customer support.

uh no, im not implying you pirate the game, im implying that you torrent the game files and use the cd key you got from your email since you purchased the game already legally. You bought the game, it doesnt work, so go essentially borrow a copy from your friend and use the darn key you got in an email. its a quick fix if you have even rudimentary networking skills

ah my bad misunderstanding, sorry people on 3 other sites indicated I pirated the game because it was not working, guess Im just getting sensitive

Also, it turns out D2D downloads do not work unless you use their Download Manager to download them. Something they would tell their clients if they cared at all, which they do not. Instead they just send them an email saying 'not our fault, ask the game's maker'

I would suggest posting in the PS3 tech support forum, and not the PC tech forum.

Edit: And try and make it in a relevant thread, and not one that has nothing to do with your problem
